Required Skills -
- 5+ years of dedicated enterprise storage engineering experience, with at least 3+ years specifically focused on Dell EMC platforms.
- Dell EMC NAS Expertise: Deep technical knowledge of PowerScale/Isilon (OneFS) architecture. Experience with SmartPools, SmartQuotas, SyncIQ, InsightIQ, and DataIQ.
- Object Storage Expertise: Proven experience deploying and managing Dell EMC ECS (Elastic Cloud Storage). Strong understanding of object-based architectures, buckets, namespaces, and geo-replication.
- Protocol Proficiency: Advanced understanding of file and object protocols, including NFS (v3/v4), SMB/CIFS, and S3 API.
- Networking & Systems: Strong grasp of storage networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, VLANs, LACP) and directory services integration (Active Directory, LDAP, Kerberos).
Analytical Skills: Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze complex system logs and performance metrics.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with other Dell EMC storage arrays (PowerMax, VPLEX) or SAN switches (Brocade, Cisco MDS).
- Familiarity with hybrid-cloud storage tiering (e.g., CloudPools tiering to AWS/Azure/GCP).
Experience with infrastructure-as-code and configuration management tools (Ansible, Terraform).
Scripting proficiency in Python, PowerShell, or Bash.
Job Responsibilities
Job Duties -
"- Infrastructure Management: Architect, deploy, and administer Dell EMC NAS platforms (primarily PowerScale/Isilon, Unity, and PowerStore) and Object Storage platforms (ECS and ObjectScale).
- Provisioning & Allocation: Manage storage provisioning, tiering, and capacity planning for massive volumes of unstructured data across file (NFS, SMB/CIFS) and object (S3, Swift) protocols.
- Performance Optimization: Monitor system performance, identify bottlenecks, and perform tuning on OneFS and ECS environments to ensure optimal data throughput and low latency.
- Data Protection & Disaster Recovery: Design and maintain disaster recovery solutions using native replication tools (e.g., SyncIQ, ECS Geo-Replication). Manage snapshots, NDMP backups, and integration with Data Domain (PowerProtect DD).
- Lifecycle Management: Plan and execute non-disruptive hardware scaling, node additions, and OS/firmware upgrades (e.g., OneFS upgrades).
- Security & Compliance: Implement and manage access controls, Active Directory/LDAP integration, SmartQuotas, RBAC, and data encryption (Data at Rest/Data in Flight) to meet security and compliance standards.
- Automation: Develop scripts and automation workflows (using Python, Ansible, or REST APIs) to streamline repetitive storage provisioning, reporting, and management tasks.
- Troubleshooting: Serve as the Tier 3 escalation point for complex NAS and Object storage incidents. Work closely with Dell EMC vendor support to resolve hardware and software issues.
- Documentation: Create and maintain detailed architecture diagrams, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and operational runbooks.
