This role is fully remote
On-call rotation is required
  • When on-call, candidate must be able to respond to calls via company phone within 15 minutes and able to connect company laptop by VPN within one hour for the entire 7 day on-call period.
Must be available for occasional after hours work as required for high profile changes and supporting implementation teams
The role supports two areas: backup of servers and augmenting the storage team at one of BAE Systems' business units with eventual integration into the full enterprise support team.
Administration of Commvault and VEEAM backup systems, to include:
- monitor and troubleshoot backup issues,
- configure backups of new backup subclients,
- remove decommissioned backup subclients,
- perform data restores from backups,
- report backup statistics each month,
- manage Virtual Server Agent backups and restores of VMware VMs.
- coordinate with Commvault and VEEAM vendor personnel to resolve backup software problems and issues.
- Add/remove backup infrastructure servers.
- Assist in documenting backup infrastructure.
- Perform assigned Compliance tasks.
- Work with other teams to resolve backup issues, when needed.
Maintain operation of enterprise multi-user network attached storage systems, including coordination with engineers and cross-functional teams. Duties include (but not limited to):
- General multi-vendor storage management, optimization, compliance, and storage object configuration and provisioning (including DataDomain, Isilon, and NetApp)
- Create and maintain documentation of the shared storage landscape
- Best practice storage provisioning to heterogeneous endpoints (including, but not limited to, Microsoft Windows, Linux, and VMware Virtualized servers)
- Operational administration of highly available NAS/SAN environment (including installation, audit, baseline configuration, non-disruptive OS/firmware upgrades, maintenance, and performance monitoring)
- Troubleshoot complex problems and recommend appropriate action, enlisting peer and vendor support as required
- Develop, draft, and maintain policies and standards related to the use of enterprise shared storage resources

Required Skills and Education
Bachelor's Degree and 6+ years work experience or equivalent experience
  • due to the nature of the project(s) this person will be working on US CITIZENSHIP IS REQUIRED.
  • Knowledge of and experience using the VEEAM backup product to configure and maintain server backup operations is required.
  • Knowledge of and experience using storage devices from multiple vendors required. (DataDomain, Isilon, and NetApp critical)
  • Knowledge of and experience using Dell storage devices, particularly the Dell DataDomain as the target for VEEAM backup data is required.
  • Knowledge of and experience using the Commvault backup product in a large server backup environment to configure and maintain server backup operations is required. Tape library operational expertise is mandatory.
  • Understanding of CMMC compliance principles required.

Preferred Skills and Education
  • Commvault certifications preferred.
  • Preferred clearance level: Secret.
  • Facility with using ServiceNow would be a big plus.
  • Knowledge of and experience with Cloud backup operations using Commvault Air Gap Protect (Metallic) preferred.
