Effective management of these issues usually involves strong attention to detail, consistent communication with clients or internal teams, and the use of reliable invoicing software to automate repetitive tasks. Job description

ABOUT US

HirexHire (pronounced hire by hire) is a Chicago-based recruiting and talent consultancy that integrates with companies short-term to provide long-term talent solutions. We take a seat in our client’s everyday operations to understand their people's goals, gaps, and challenges. We then develop and implement the processes and technologies to execute a sustainable and scalable talent plan.

We partner with companies expecting or experiencing high growth which need to hire at scale or fill a critical role rapidly. Our clients are not looking for quick-fix placements but are thoughtfully building a hiring strategy to scale their businesses.

OUR CLIENT

Location: Salt Lake City, Utah (Hybrid: 3 days onsite, 2 days remote)
Industry: Tech / SaaS Startup
Company Size: 50–100 employees

What They Do:
Our client is a fast-growing technology startup that provides software solutions designed to support business operations, marketing, and customer engagement. They are a close-knit, fast-moving team passionate about scaling innovative technology and building strong client relationships. The environment is dynamic, collaborative, and suited for individuals eager to wear multiple hats and grow with the company.

THE ROLE

Our client is seeking a hands-on accounting manager to own the day-to-day finance and accounting operations for a growing SaaS business. This role is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, operationally strong, and comfortable being in the weeds across billing, invoicing, AP/AR, bookkeeping oversight, month-end close, and financial reporting.
Reporting to the CEO, this person will be a key owner of financial operations and will help ensure the business has accurate reporting, clean processes, and reliable day-to-day financial execution.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Own day-to-day finance and accounting operations, including AP, AR, invoicing, billing, collections follow-up, and vendor payments.
  • Manage customer billing processes, including recurring, subscription, or usage-based billing workflows.
  • Support month-end close, reconciliations, bookkeeping oversight, and preparation of financial statements.
  • Ensure invoices are sent accurately and on time, payments are tracked, and customer follow-up is handled consistently.
  • Maintain clean financial data across systems such as QuickBooks, HubSpot, billing tools, and internal spreadsheets.
  • Partner with the CEO on basic budgeting, forecasting, cash planning, and financial visibility.
  • Prepare monthly financial reports and help track key business metrics, including revenue, expenses, cash, customer billing, and outstanding receivables.
  • Identify process gaps and help implement more scalable finance and accounting workflows.
  • Work closely with external accounting, tax, or audit partners as needed.
  • Provide practical financial support to leadership without needing to fully own high-level finance strategy.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
  • 4+ years of relevant accounting, finance operations, or finance/accounting experience.
  • Experience in an Accounting Manager, Finance Manager, Senior Accountant, or similar hands-on role.
  • Strong understanding of AP, AR, invoicing, billing, reconciliations, month-end close, and basic financial reporting.
  • Comfortable being in the weeds and owning detailed operational finance work.
  • Some exposure to budgeting, forecasting, or basic FP&A responsibilities.
  • Experience in a startup, small company, or lean finance environment where responsibilities are broad.
  • Strong Excel or Google Sheets skills.
  • High attention to detail and strong follow-through.
  • Ability to work independently, identify issues, and push back when something does not look right.
  • Experience with QuickBooks required or strongly preferred.
  • Experience with HubSpot, SaaS billing, subscription billing, or usage-based billing is a plus.
