Job Description
Zuckerman Investment Group is seeking to hire a seasoned investment professional with 5+ years of investment research and portfolio management experience. The ideal candidate is a driven, hardworking continuous learner passionate about financial markets and detailed, in-depth fundamental investment research. This role requires a strong strategic mindset, broad and deep investment and business knowledge, and a proven ability to understand and meet client needs, all while maintaining a focus on delivering consistent, long-term investment performance.
JOB FUNCTION RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Exemplify the core values of Zuckerman Investment Group.
  • Source, research and recommend new equity ideas within our investment process.
  • Build and maintain detailed financial models.
  • Write detailed investment memorandums.
  • Develop and maintain research relationships, including with company management, industry contacts, and research vendors, among others.
  • Perform thorough fundamental analysis of companies across all sectors.
  • Develop actionable insights by consuming and distilling large quantities of information from a variety of sources, including, but not limited to, research reports, industry news, news publications, company press releases and presentations, social media, primary sources, subject matter experts, etc.
  • Conduct in-depth research and analysis on broad market trends, industry specific developments, economic conditions, and regulatory, fiscal and monetary policy to inform decision-making.
  • Speak with high net worth clients about their investment portfolios.
  • Participate in marketing meetings with consultants, advisors, clients and prospects.
  • Leverage a deep understanding of financial markets to provide tailored solutions.
  • Identify and mitigate risks in client portfolios, managing exposure to various asset classes and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
  • 5+ years of related investment research and portfolio management experience required.
  • Previous experience researching software and technology companies preferred but not required.
  • Highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality.
  • Outstanding work ethic, attention to detail and ability to work well on a team and cross functionally.
  • Proven ability to grasp and comprehend highly complex, widely varied problems and concepts and then communicate them in a simple, straightforward manner.
  • Insatiable intellectual curiosity and an unrelenting desire to learn and understand "how things work."
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships and communicate clearly and effectively with all members of the firm, including firm leadership and Partners.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Proficiency with FactSet and / or Bloomberg.

EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Master's in Business Administration (preferred)
  • CFAยฎ Charterholder (preferred)

SALARY AND BENEFITS:
The base pay range for this position is $125,000 - $200,000 annually. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as education, experience, skills, and location.
Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation. We provide industry-competitive salaries and significant incentive plan opportunities, a generous profit sharing 401(k) retirement plan, health insurance, life insurance, short-term and long-term disability programs, a hybrid work environment and paid-time-off programs and opportunities for growth within the firm. This role is also eligible for bonus, subject to company policy.
Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience.
