The Security Officer provides a safe and secure environment for all UnityPoint Health properties. This role monitors hospital buildings and premises to prevent theft, vandalism, unauthorized intruders, and protects patients, team members, and visitors. The Security Officer provides input in developing security procedures, which address the day-to-day physical security needs of the Unity Point Health System.

Responsibilities

As a Certified Public Safety Officer, you’ll:

  • Respond to emergency and routine calls, including internal 911s.
  • Monitor security systems and conduct investigations.
  • Assist patients, visitors, and staff with professionalism and care.
  • Contribute to a safe, healing environment through holistic, age-appropriate service.
Qualifications
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent
  • Language: Must be able to read, write, comprehend, and speak fluent English
  • Experience:
    • Computer knowledge and typing skills required
    • No felony convictions
  • Licenses/Certifications:
    • Valid driver’s license (for work-related driving)
    • CPR, AED, MOAB, ASP/Handcuffs, and Pepper Spray/OC certifications (to be completed within first 6 months)
    • IAHSS Basic Officer Training Course (to be completed within first 90 days)
