Job description

Job Title: Material Handler

Job Description

This role focuses on safe and efficient operation of stand-up/man-up forklifts and other material handling equipment to support kitting, inventory verification, and general warehouse operations. You will move materials, build and verify kits, maintain accurate inventory records, and perform basic computer data entry while working in a fast-paced, highly collaborative warehouse environment.

Responsibilities

  • Operate stand-up/man-up forklifts and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently throughout the warehouse.
  • Spend varying portions of the day on a forklift and performing physical inventory tasks, depending on assignment and business needs.
  • Review printed pick lists and verify inventory on hand in the warehouse before moving parts.
  • Label inventory accurately and ensure all tags and labels are correctly applied and match the corresponding parts.
  • Count inventory by hand on the warehouse floor and verify that quantities and labels match physical inventory.
  • Use a computer for basic navigation and general data entry to support inventory control and tracking.
  • Work with printed pick lists to verify parts on hand and ensure the correct components are pulled and prepared.
  • Adapt to different tasks and roles within the material handling and kitting area as business demands change, which may include performing the same job daily or rotating between roles.
  • Maintain a strong commitment to safety when operating forklifts, electric carts, and other equipment, including working at heights while secured in a harness.
  • Bend, twist, lift, and move throughout the building as needed to locate, count, and verify products.
  • Demonstrate reliable attendance and strong teamwork, supporting high levels of cooperation within the warehouse team.
  • Work required overtime

Essential Skills

  • At least 2 years of previous forklift experience
  • Proficiency operating forklifts in a manufacturing or warehouse setting, including stand-up/man-up order pickers and other material handling equipment.
  • Ability to perform basic computer navigation and data entry to support inventory control and tracking.
  • Demonstrated strong attendance record in previous roles
  • Commitment to safe forklift operation and adherence to safety procedures
  • Experience with inventory control, including counting, tracking, and verifying inventory accuracy in a warehouse or manufacturing environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Recent experience operating a stand-up/man-up forklift
  • Experience with kitting, picking, packing, and shipping and receiving activities in a warehouse or manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with reach trucks, sit-down forklifts, and other types of material handling equipment.
  • Experience working with printed pick lists and performing verification processes for parts and kits.
  • Experience in inventory accuracy and inventory tracking processes.
