Job description

Position Summary

The Inventory Control Supervisor is responsible for the accuracy, integrity, and control of all inventory within the Product Operations environment. This role ensures that system inventory aligns with physical inventory and that material transactions are executed consistently and correctly.

This position leads inventory control processes, including cycle counting, discrepancy resolution, and transaction discipline, while supporting Production, Procurement, Inside Sales, and Manufacturing Engineering through accurate material visibility.

The Inventory Control Supervisor directly manages the Inventory Control Technicians and serves as the primary owner of inventory accuracy across all products.


Responsibility (Core Activities)

Inventory Accuracy & Control

  • Own inventory accuracy across all Houston warehouses, product lines, and material types
  • Ensure alignment between physical inventory and ERP system (Epicor) records
  • Develop and maintain cycle count programs based on material criticality and usage
  • Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies, including root cause identification
  • Establish and enforce inventory control procedures and transaction discipline

Transaction Integrity & System Discipline

  • Ensure all material movements (receipts, transfers, consumption, adjustments) are properly recorded in Epicor
  • Monitor and improve accuracy of inventory transactions across departments
  • Identify and correct gaps in transaction processes that impact inventory accuracy
  • Train and reinforce proper system usage related to inventory transactions

Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Partner with Production to ensure accurate material consumption and reporting
  • Support Procurement by validating received materials and resolving discrepancies
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering on BOM accuracy and material usage issues
  • Provide visibility to leadership on inventory risks, discrepancies, and trends

Inventory Optimization & Continuous Improvement

  • Identify trends in inventory discrepancies and drive corrective actions
  • Improve inventory processes to reduce errors, waste, and inefficiencies
  • Support initiatives to improve inventory turns, reduce excess/obsolete inventory, and improve material flow
  • Recommend improvements to inventory layout, storage, and handling practices

Team Leadership

  • Supervise, train, and develop the Inventory Control Technician
  • Set priorities and manage workload for inventory control activities
  • Ensure consistent execution of cycle counts and inventory audits
  • Promote accountability and discipline in inventory processes
