Warehouse Associate/Yard Associate
Newington, CT

Job Summary

The Warehouse Associate / Yard Associate is responsible for supporting daily warehouse and yard operations through material handling, inventory management, shipping and receiving, order fulfillment, and customer service activities. This role requires a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment both indoors and outdoors. The ideal candidate has warehouse experience, forklift operating experience, and a commitment to maintaining a safe, organized, and efficient work environment.

Job Responsibilities

  • Load and unload materials, products, and deliveries safely and efficiently.
  • Pull, verify, and prepare customer orders from pick lists for shipment or pickup.
  • Stage, wrap, and prepare pallets and materials for outbound shipments.
  • Receive, inspect, verify, and accurately put away incoming inventory.
  • Maintain inventory accuracy through proper stock placement and inventory control procedures.
  • Stock shelves and organize materials to support efficient warehouse operations.
  • Assist customers with order pickups, material retrieval, and loading activities.
  • Provide professional and courteous customer service during all customer interactions.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe warehouse and yard environment.
  • Perform general facility upkeep, including indoor and outdoor housekeeping activities.
  • Support shipping and receiving functions as needed.
  • Operate sit-down forklifts and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Follow all warehouse procedures, safety standards, and company policies.
  • Assist with inventory counts, cycle counts, and material audits as required.
  • Perform additional warehouse and yard duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of recent warehouse experience required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of sit-down forklift experience required.
  • Ability to safely operate forklifts and material handling equipment.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds independently.
  • Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, twist, and lift throughout an 8-hour shift.
  • Dependable attendance and strong work ethic required.
  • Stable work history with no more than 3-month gaps in employment.

Education

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.

Work Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years of recent warehouse experience required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of sit-down forklift operating experience required.
  • Experience with shipping and receiving processes preferred.
  • Experience with inventory control and cycle counting preferred.
  • Experience with order picking, staging, and material handling preferred.
  • Experience using warehouse inventory systems or computer-based inventory tools preferred.
  • Experience working in warehouse, distribution, yard, or industrial environments preferred.
