Job Summary
The Equipment Mechanic is responsible for the comprehensive troubleshooting, repair, and preventative maintenance of a diverse fleet of landscaping and construction machinery. Your primary goal is to minimize downtime and ensure all equipment-from handheld blowers to heavy skid steers-operates at peak efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Maintenance & Repair
  • Troubleshooting: Accurately diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues to execute quick, effective repairs.
  • Engine Service: Maintain and repair 2-cycle and 4-cycle engines across a variety of platforms, including:
    • Handhelds: Blowers, weed eaters, and chainsaws.
    • Large Machinery: Zero-turn mowers, tractors, and skid steers.
  • Preventative Care: Perform routine maintenance such as oil changes, filter replacements, and belt adjustments.
  • Safety Inspections: Rigorously inspect all equipment safety devices to ensure 100% compliance with operational standards.

Field & Shop Operations
  • Mobile Support: Perform off-site repairs as needed to keep crews operational in the field.
  • Logistics: Manage the pickup of parts from local vendors and maintain a well-organized shop and yard environment.
  • Inventory Control: Assist in maintaining accurate service records and ensure all parts are processed through the company's inventory system.

Collaboration & Safety
  • Communication: Coordinate with internal managers to prioritize repairs based on crew needs and seasonal demands.
  • Compliance: Ensure all equipment and shop practices strictly adhere to OSHA regulations and company safety policies.
  • Support: Assist the company in seasonal service transitions (e.g., snow removal prep or specialty landscaping projects).

Candidate Requirements
  • Experience: High School Diploma or GED required; minimum of 3 years of professional experience in small engine and heavy equipment repair.
  • Licensing: Must possess a valid NC Driver's License with a clean driving record (CDL preferred).
