Job description

Under direct supervision, is responsible for issuing tools and parts to mechanics following established procedures and maintaining accurate inventory through effective record-keeping practices.

Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible for tracking and maintaining maintenance department tools; clean and maintain maintenance department tools and equipment so that they remain in good working condition to meet safety and replacement frequency requirements; and distribute and record distribution of high-value company owned tools to mechanics while ensuring that such tools are returned.
  • Place orders for maintenance parts, supplies and contract work; includes obtaining prices, scheduling deliveries, and writing purchase orders. Follow up with vendors as necessary to ensure that parts are available to meet production needs.
  • Review invoices for accuracy of price and quantity as compared to purchase orders and route for approval and payment within payment timelines. Retain documents in compliance with organization’s record retention policy.
  • Record all work done by the maintenance department with regards to preventative maintenance schedules, equipment repair, building maintenance, and special projects. Enter, update and close out work orders within the asset management system; prepare reports as required.
  • Comply with established employment, safety, good manufacturing practices, quality, and other facility workplace policies and procedures
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Experience & Skills

  • 3-5 year’s experience working in a manufacturing facility’s maintenance department.
  • Ability to work with a personal computer and accurately enter data into spreadsheets or functional specific software.
  • Basic knowledge of purchasing and inventory control procedures.

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent reading, writing, verbal and mathematics skills.

Work Environment

  • Work is generally performed within a manufacturing environment subjected to temperatures of cold and warm along with wearing the proper PPE, with standard office equipment available along with plant manufacturing environment.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, bend, walk, use hands or finger, talk, hear, feel objects, tools, or controls; may be required to lift up to 50 pounds. Vision abilities include close vision to a computer screen.
