Job description

At Alexandria Animal Hospital of Fort Hunt, we're building something truly special, and we want you to be part of it.
We're looking for an Associate Veterinarian, new grad or experienced, to join our recently remodeled, full-service hospital in the heart of Alexandria, VA. Whether you're fresh out of school and looking for a place to land and grow, or you're ready for something better, we might just be your people.
Why You'll Love Us:
  • Great Equipment, Strong Team, Full Autonomy - Surgical laser, cautery unit, endoscope, ultrasound, and more inside a freshly remodeled facility. You'll have the tools, the tech support, and the medical autonomy to practice the kind of medicine you actually want to practice.
  • Roots Run Deep, Laughs Run Deeper - Many of our team members have been here for over a decade, and our clients have been with us just as long. We've built something real here: real relationships, real trust, and a team that genuinely enjoys showing up every day. We celebrate wins, laugh together, support each other through the tough days, and now we're stepping into an exciting new chapter of growth. The best of both worlds.
  • New Grads, You're Welcome Here - We genuinely love mentoring and watching people grow. You'll be supported by experienced veterinary mentors who are invested in your success, with regular check-ins and Encore's MentorCore program in your corner. Come ready to learn, and we'll meet you there.
  • Rare Doesn't Even Cover It - Not many practices can say their Medical Director has an active background in NIH-funded ocular research. Ours can. If eye medicine lights you up or you've always wanted to dig deeper into it, you've landed in the right place. This is a genuinely rare opportunity to learn from someone at that level.
  • A Schedule Built Around Your Life - Flexible scheduling, stable hours, and never open on Sundays. Part-time and full-time are both welcome.
You Are:
  • A US-licensed DVM or DVM equivalent.
  • An excellent communicator with strong interpersonal skills.
  • A Collaborative and supportive team member who loves sharing knowledge.
  • Flexible and able to pivot and adapt as needed.
  • Are energized by change and excited to help shape the future of a hospital with deep community roots
Not Local? You're Going to Want to Be.
Alexandria, VA, has a way of surprising people in the best way possible. Ten minutes from the National Mall, steps from the Potomac, and planted in one of the most vibrant corners of the East Coast. Here's what's waiting:
  • Historic charm meets great food - Old Town Alexandria waterfront, Michelin star restaurants, speakeasies, and boutique shops all within a stroll.
  • The outdoors show up big - Gravely Point is 10 minutes away with bike paths to the National Mall. Paddleboarding, boat rentals, and some of the best plane-watching you'll ever do.
  • Always something going on - Intramural sports, a thriving dance community, rock climbing, jiu jitsu, legendary 4th of July fireworks, and easy Amtrak getaways from Union Station.
  • The commute won't break you - Beautiful neighborhoods at every price point. No joke.
  • Mild winters, gorgeous falls, springs, and summers worth writing home about - You will not be hibernating here.
What's in it for you?
  • Generous CE Allowance + access to Encore Performance Academy trainings
  • Health, Dental, Vision, PTO, Pet Benefits, 401(k) with up to a 5% match
  • Paid parental leave and holiday pay
  • Professional dues coverage + student loan assistance
  • Local leadership, medical autonomy, and the backing of Encore Vet Group, a supportive network of 55 veterinarian-led practices that keeps it real and supports practices in achieving their own unique goals.

Our base salary range is from $100k-$130k (or higher) based on experience and production capabilities. We have pro-sal and salary options, and we're open to offering a sign-on bonus or relocation package.
