Job Title: Interventional Radiology Registered Nurse (IR RN)
Job Summary:
An Interventional Radiology Registered Nurse (IR RN) provides specialized nursing care to patients undergoing minimally invasive, image-guided procedures. The IR RN collaborates with interventional radiologists and other healthcare professionals to ensure the safe and effective administration of care before, during, and after these procedures, ensuring optimal patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and assess patients for interventional radiology procedures, ensuring they are informed and comfortable with the procedure.
  • Monitor and manage patients' vital signs, sedation, and pain control during interventional procedures.
  • Administer sedation, medications, and intravenous therapies required for imaging-guided procedures.
  • Collaborate with interventional radiologists, anesthesiologists, and other members of the healthcare team to provide safe, effective care.
  • Assist in the placement, maintenance, and monitoring of specialized equipment such as catheters, needles, and contrast media.
  • Monitor patients during post-procedure recovery, assessing for complications such as bleeding, infection, or adverse reactions.
  • Educate patients and families about procedures, recovery expectations, and post-procedure care.
  • Document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately and in accordance with hospital policies and regulatory standards.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and collaborate with the radiology team to ensure continuity of care.
Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred; Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) accepted.
  • Licensure:
    • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
  • Certification:
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
    • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred
