Internships Game Development information

What is an internship in game development?

Internships in game development are short-term positions offered by gaming companies or studios to students or recent graduates interested in gaining hands-on experience in the industry. These internships allow individuals to work with professional teams, learn about the game development process, and develop practical skills in areas such as programming, art, design, or production. Interns often work on real projects, contribute to different stages of game creation, and build a portfolio to help land a full-time job in the industry after graduation.

What types of projects and responsibilities can I expect during a game development internship?

As a game development intern, you'll often work on a variety of tasks such as assisting with coding gameplay features, debugging, creating and testing levels, or supporting the art and design teams. Interns frequently collaborate with experienced developers and participate in team meetings, gaining exposure to the full game development lifecycle. You may also be assigned a small project or component of a larger game to own, which helps build your portfolio and professional skills. The environment is usually fast-paced and collaborative, providing an excellent opportunity to learn from industry professionals and see your work contribute to actual game builds.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a game development intern, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Game Development Intern, you typically need foundational knowledge of programming languages (such as C++ or C#), basic understanding of game engines like Unity or Unreal, and relevant coursework or projects in game design or computer science. Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git), asset creation tools (such as Blender or Photoshop), and debugging techniques is often required. Creativity, teamwork, problem-solving, and effective communication are essential soft skills that help interns contribute ideas and collaborate with diverse teams. These skills and qualifications are vital for successfully integrating into game development workflows, learning quickly, and making meaningful contributions to projects.

Job description

Employment Type: Full-Time, On-Site

Location: Austin, Texas

Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM Central Time

About TekRevol

TekRevol is a technology and digital transformation company that helps startups, growing businesses, and established organizations turn ideas into scalable digital products.

Our services include mobile app development, custom software development, web platforms, artificial intelligence solutions, game development, and broader digital transformation services.

We work with clients across industries and international markets, giving our team exposure to diverse business models, technologies, and decision-makers.

About the Role

TekRevol is looking for an energetic and ambitious Sales Development Representative to join our team in Austin.

This is an entry-level opportunity for someone who wants to build a long-term career in technology sales and business development. Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply, while previous experience in sales, business development, customer-facing roles, or relevant internships will be considered an advantage.

You will primarily engage with inbound prospects who are interested in TekRevol's services. You will communicate with potential clients, understand their business needs, participate in sales calls, maintain consistent follow-up, and help move opportunities through the sales process.

You will initially work closely with TekRevol's Partner & CMO and the broader business development team. Over time, you will be expected to develop the confidence, knowledge, and commercial judgment required to independently handle sales conversations, manage opportunities, and contribute to closing deals.

This role is based in the US and works US business hours — while many of the prospects you'll engage are international, you will not be expected to work outside Central Time working hours to accommodate them.

The role also includes supporting networking and partnership development in the Austin business community.

What You'll Do

  • Respond promptly and professionally to inbound sales inquiries, via phone, email, LinkedIn, video meetings, and messaging platforms.
  • Participate in and progressively lead sales and discovery conversations.
  • Understand a prospect's business challenges, goals, and technology requirements.
  • Present TekRevol's full range of services and help prospects identify suitable solutions.
  • Build relationships with founders, executives, entrepreneurs, and business decision-makers.
  • Manage prospect records, notes, tasks, activities, and pipeline stages in the CRM.
  • Review proposals prepared by business development executives before they are shared or followed up on.
  • Follow up on proposals and open opportunities through the decision and closure stages.
  • Coordinate with business development, marketing, technical, and delivery teams when needed.
  • Conduct light market research on industries, target accounts, business trends, competitors, and potential partnership opportunities.
  • Support local networking, partnership meetings, conferences, and business development activities.
  • Identify opportunities to expand TekRevol's professional network and referral relationships.
  • Work toward independently managing sales calls, opportunities, and deal closures, with formal sales targets and greater ownership of the sales cycle as you grow in the role.

What Success Looks Like

  • First 30 days: Onboarding complete, CRM proficiency established, shadowing live sales calls.
  • 30–60 days: Independently handling inbound response and initial prospect qualification.
  • 60–90 days: Running discovery calls solo and building a consistent follow-up rhythm across your pipeline.
  • 90+ days: Contributing directly to closed pipeline, with growing ownership of deals through to closure.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in business, technology, or a related field preferred.
  • Fresh graduates and early-career candidates are encouraged to apply.
  • 0 - 2 years of relevant experience in sales, business development, customer service, account management, or a related internship is preferred.
  • Excellent spoken and written English is required.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Confidence communicating with prospects and business decision-makers.
  • A genuine interest in sales, technology, entrepreneurship, and business growth.
  • Coachable, curious, persistent, and eager to learn.
  • Comfortable managing multiple prospects, conversations, and follow-up activities in a fast-paced environment where priorities may change.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and able to take ownership as responsibilities increase.
  • Prior experience using CRM platforms, Zoom, and LinkedIn Sales Navigator is preferred but not required — TekRevol will provide training.
  • Familiarity with software development, mobile applications, artificial intelligence, digital products, or digital transformation is preferred but not required.

Location and Schedule

This is a full-time, on-site position based in Austin, Texas, Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM Central Time. The role occasionally involves local networking events, partner meetings, or conferences outside standard hours, and rare travel outside Austin.

Candidates already located in Austin and those willing to relocate are welcome to apply.

What We Offer

  • Health insurance
  • Paid time off
  • Structured onboarding and sales training
  • Hands-on experience in technology sales
  • Exposure to international prospects and global clients
  • Direct mentorship from senior leadership
  • Career development and advancement opportunities
  • An entrepreneurial, energetic, and fast-moving work environment
  • The opportunity to work across a diverse range of industries and technology solutions

How to Apply

Please submit your resume for consideration. A short note explaining your interest in technology sales, business development, or TekRevol is preferred and will help us better understand your motivation.
