Internship Xr Software Engineers are typically students or recent graduates gaining hands-on experience in XR development, often in a learning environment. Xr Software Developers are more experienced professionals working full-time on XR projects. The internship is a stepping stone, while the developer role involves ongoing responsibilities in XR software creation.

Is 23 dollars an hour good for an internship?

For an XR Software Engineer internship, $23 an hour is generally considered competitive, especially for entry-level or internship roles in the tech industry. Factors such as location, company size, and required skills can influence whether this rate is above or below average, but it typically aligns with standard internship pay for technical roles involving software development and AR/VR tools.

What does an Internship XR Software Engineer do?

An Internship XR Software Engineer assists in designing, developing, and testing software applications for Extended Reality (XR) platforms, which include Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), and Mixed Reality (MR). Interns typically work alongside experienced engineers to build immersive experiences, optimize performance, and troubleshoot technical issues. They may also contribute to prototyping, user interface design, and integrating hardware devices. This role provides hands-on experience with XR development tools and technologies, helping interns build the skills needed for a career in immersive technology.

What kinds of projects and technologies do XR Software Engineer interns typically work on, and how do these contribute to larger team goals?

As an XR Software Engineer intern, you are likely to work on projects involving virtual, augmented, or mixed reality applications, often using platforms like Unity or Unreal Engine and programming languages such as C# or C++. Your daily tasks may include developing interactive 3D experiences, optimizing performance, and collaborating closely with designers, artists, and senior engineers to bring concepts to life. These projects not only help you build technical skills but also directly support the team's goal of creating immersive and innovative user experiences. You'll often contribute to prototypes, assist with testing, and help implement new features, gaining exposure to the full XR development lifecycle.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Internship XR Software Engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Internship XR Software Engineer, you generally need a background in computer science or a related field, with strong programming skills in languages like C#, C++, or Unity/Unreal Engine. Familiarity with XR development tools such as Unity3D, Unreal Engine, ARKit/ARCore, and version control systems is typically required. Problem-solving abilities, creativity, and effective communication stand out as vital soft skills in this role. These skills and qualities are important for efficiently developing immersive experiences, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and adapting to fast-evolving XR technologies.

What are the big 4 internships?

The 'Big 4' internships typically refer to summer internship programs at the four largest professional services firms: Deloitte, PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), Ernst & Young (EY), and KPMG. These internships are highly competitive and often focus on areas like audit, consulting, tax, and advisory services, providing valuable experience for aspiring professionals including XR software engineers interested in enterprise solutions or consulting roles.

How much do 7 11 software engineer interns make?

Internship salaries for software engineer interns at companies like 7-Eleven typically range from $15 to $30 per hour, depending on location, experience, and the company's pay structure. Interns often work part-time or full-time during summer or semester periods and may receive additional benefits or stipends.

What engineer makes $500,000 a year?

Internship

Re-posted 29 days ago

Job description

Teleoperation Software Engineering Internship
Location: Houston, Texas or Pensacola, Florida
Duration: 12-16 weeks
The Mission
At Persona AI, the Teleoperation Team is the bridge between human intuition and artificial intelligence. We aren't just building a remote control; we are building a high-fidelity, low-latency "nervous system" for our humanoid fleet.
As a Teleoperation Intern, you will work across our entire hardware and software stack, integrating firmware, backend infrastructure, retargeting, and XR interfaces. You will solve the "unreliable transport" problem, ensuring our robots move fluidly even when the network doesn't want to cooperate. If you're obsessed with sub-millisecond latency, real-time rendering, and the future of robotics, we want you on the front lines.
What You'll Do
  • Architect Immersive Interfaces: Help develop our primary XR application used by operators to control humanoid robots.
  • Optimize Data Pipelines: Build and tune low-latency streaming protocols (Rust) that function over real-world WiFi, Wired and bluetooth networks.
  • Bridge the Stack: Develop software that interfaces directly with hardware SDKs for robot sensing, motion capture, and control.
  • Innovate in XR: Build frontend systems for AR devices (Android/Embedded Linux) using OpenXR and frameworks like StereoKit or Unity.
  • Scale and Monitor: Use Python to build test harnesses and automation scripts, ensuring our fleet remains reliable as it grows.

What We're Looking For
  • Education: Currently pursuing a BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, Robotics, or a related technical field.
  • Coding Prowess: Strong fundamentals in Rust and Python. Familiarity with C++ is a plus.
  • 3D & Networking Fluency: A solid grasp of 3D geometry (kinematics) and networking basics (TCP/UDP, bandwidth optimization).
  • Systems Thinker: Experience working in Linux environments and a passion for navigating complex open-source codebases.
  • The "Builder" Mindset: You've built things-whether it's a game in XR, a custom drone, or a contribution to an open-source library.

Bonus Points
  • Experience with Unreal Engine (Blueprints/C++) or OpenXR.
  • Knowledge of custom shader writing or GPU profiling.
  • Familiarity with modern build systems like Nix or Bazel.
  • A history of contributing to open-source projects.
Program Details
We review applications on a rolling basis, so applying early is strongly recommended. Our internships are competitive, and early applicants often have the best chance to be matched with available projects.
Now reviewing applications for:
  • Fall 2026 (August-December)
  • Spring 2027 (January-May)
