Southern Mississippi Trading (SMT) is a leading commodities trading company in the wood products industry, offering a dynamic and rewarding internship opportunity for ambitious individuals looking to break into the world of trading. As a Trader Trainee Intern, you will participate in an immersive development program designed to give you a hands-on understanding of the commodities trading world. What You'll Do:
  • Logistics & Freight: Assist in expanding SMT's transportation network, negotiating freight rates with carriers, and helping resolve logistical challenges alongside our traffic team
  • Collaboration: Work closely with traders to gain insight into trading strategy
  • Customer Relations: Learn the ropes of building and maintaining customer relationships through prospecting, cold calling, and networking with potential clients
