Job description

Civil Engineer Intern - Water Resources
Halff is actively seeking an Intern for our Water Resources team in our Houston, TX office. The Civil Engineering Intern will help with drainage and stormwater analysis and design. The Intern will help perform water resources design, support projects in water resources planning, hydrology and hydraulic modeling, and other engineering tasks as needed. The Internship will begin on June 7th, 2027, and conclude on August 13th, 2027. Please apply and upload a copy of your resume to be considered for all openings with Halff.
Interns are paid hourly and work full-time (40 hours/week), typically 8a-5p Monday through Friday.
Halff does not pay for or provide housing for Internships.
Civil Engineer Intern - Water Resources Responsibilities:
  • Design civil engineering projects under the direct supervision of a Professional Engineer
  • Help design drainage and stormwater analysis and design
  • Assist in the preparation of plans, specifications, and cost estimates for Water Resources projects
  • Perform drafting CAD work
  • Perform calculations and analysis for design projects
  • Assist in the preparation of permit applications and other regulatory documents
  • Coordinate with other team members, including surveyors, architects, and contractors
  • Attend meetings with clients and regulatory agencies

Civil Engineer Intern - Water Resources Requirements:
  • Pursuing Bachelor's or Master's in Civil Engineering or ABET accredited equivalent Engineering degree
  • Experience with HEC-RAS and HEC-HMS is preferred, however not required
  • Great communication skills
  • Solid relationship and team building skills
  • Self-motivated and strong organization skills
