Job description

Water & Sewer Operator (willing to train)

Must have valid NYS driving license and high school diploma

Mechanically inclined and able to lift 35 lbs. Will be responsible for entry level water and/or sewer plant operations including but not limited to the following;

  • Operate pumps, valves, motors and related machinery and equipment
  • Perform maintenance work, inspect and repair machinery and equipment
  • Record readings from meters, gauges and scales
  • Regulate and adjust chemical feeders and take samples of water and wastewater for testing
  • Perform required water and wastewater testing for control of plant operation
  • Treat and dispose of sludge, clean screens, tanks, filter beds, settling basins and other equipment
  • Keep plant logs and related records and prepare reports on plant operations
  • May perform custodial duties in connection with maintenance of building and grounds

Hours Monday thru Friday 7:30am - 4pm once trained rotating on call which could include weekends and holidays.

$19 an hour to start for no experience, salary negotiable with experience and a licensed operator. Benefits include vacation, paid holidays and personal time as well as medical and 401k.

Position are available in Wappingers Falls NY.
