POSITION SPECIFICS

The John and Willie Leone Family Department of Energy and Mineral Engineering (EME) at Penn State is seeking anIndustry Recruiter & Employer Engagement Coordinatorto play a key role in connecting students, faculty, and industry partners in one of the nation's leading engineering programs.

This position sits at the intersection ofstudent recruitment, employer relations, academic affairs, and faculty support, offering a unique opportunity to make a visible impact on student success while supporting the academic mission of the department.

This role leads recruitment and career placement efforts for undergraduate and graduate students, strengthens employer relationships, and ensures highquality recruiting experiences for students and industry partners alike-while also supporting critical academic and faculty processes that keep the department running smoothly.

Key Responsibilities

Student Recruitment, Career Placement & Employer Relations

  • Lead and administer student recruitment and career placement efforts for undergraduate and graduate programs within EME.

  • Plan and execute recruitment, outreach, and career development activities in collaboration with EME academic advisers, program chairs, and the Associate Head for Undergraduate Education.

  • Serve as EME's liaison to the College of Earth and Mineral Sciences (EMS) Admissions and Career Services teams to ensure aligned messaging and coordinated recruitment efforts.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with industry partners to support internships, coops, and fulltime employment opportunities.

  • Represent EME on the EMS Career Development Group and contribute to crosscollege employer engagement initiatives.

Employer Engagement & Recruiting Operations

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employers and industry recruiters interested in engaging with EME students.

  • Coordinate all employer recruiting activities, including posting opportunities in Nittany Lion Careers, scheduling information sessions and interviews, and managing recruiting logistics.

  • Oversee oncampus interview operations and ensure positive, professional experiences for employers and students.

  • Collect and evaluate employer feedback to support continuous improvement of recruiting programs and events.

  • Share internship, coop, and fulltime employment opportunities with students using established communication channels.

Academic Affairs & Faculty Support

  • Provide backup administrative support for academic affairs processes as assigned by the Administrative Support Manager and Department Head.

  • Provide backup administrative support forfaculty promotion and tenure and nontenureline promotion processes, including advising on procedures, timelines, and documentation requirements.

  • Provide backup administrative support with Activity Insight data management, external review coordination, and submission of faculty materials in accordance with college and University deadlines.

  • Provide backup administrative support as a knowledgeable resource on academic personnel processes while ensuring compliance with University and college policies.

Visiting Scholars, Faculty Searches & Departmental Visitors

  • Provide backup administrative support for the visiting scholar appointment process, including advising on policies, preparing documentation, and coordinating J1 visa processing and onboarding.

  • Provide backup administrative support for faculty and staff searches by supporting search committees with interview scheduling, travel arrangements, reference requests, and Affirmative Action documentation.

  • Provide backup logistical and administrative support for guest speakers, candidates, and external visitors, ensuring wellorganized, professional visit experiences.

MINIMUM EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE & REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS

Associate Degree 4+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted Required Certifications: None
