UIC Illuminate Paid Internship Program
Community Violence Intervention (CVI) Nonprofit Organization โ€“ Chicago, IL

Public Equity is excited to partner with the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) through the Illuminate Paid Internship Program to provide meaningful, project-based internship opportunities for students interested in community impact, violence prevention, nonprofit leadership, and organizational development.
This paid internship opportunity allows students to gain hands-on experience within a fast-paced Community Violence Intervention (CVI) nonprofit organization serving communities throughout Chicago. Interns will support priority projects, research initiatives, program development, administrative operations, community engagement efforts, and organizational planning while working alongside experienced nonprofit professionals.
Interns will contribute to real-world projects designed to support healing, equity, violence prevention, and community wellness initiatives across Chicago neighborhoods.
Internship Details:

  • Paid internship through the UIC Illuminate Program
  • $4,000 stipend provided directly by UIC
  • 15โ€“20 hours per week
  • One semester duration
  • Opportunities available in-person, hybrid, or virtual, based on organizational needs and student availability
Potential Internship Areas Include:

Responsibilities May Include:

  • Assisting with special projects and organizational initiatives
  • Supporting research, planning, and program development activities
  • Assisting with community outreach and engagement efforts
  • Supporting administrative tasks, documentation, and reporting
  • Participating in meetings, trainings, and collaborative team projects
  • Helping document project outcomes, accomplishments, and program impact
  • Contributing creative ideas and solutions to organizational priorities
