Job description

Guest Experience Intern

The D.C. United Guest Experience team is seeking motivated undergraduate or graduate students who are passionate about live-event environments, fan engagement, and exceptional customer service. Guest Experience Interns will support the planning and execution of all Audi Field events including D.C. United, Washington Spirit, DC Power FC, UFL games, and special events, to help deliver a best-in-class experience for every guest. Interns will gain hands-on experience in stadium operations, staffing logistics, employee engagement, and fan-focused service delivery. While primarily embedded with the Guest Experience team, interns will also be exposed to the four branches of the Audi Field Operations Department throughout the internship: Game Operations, Event/Stadium Operations, Guest Experience, and Security. This internship is ideal for students who are energetic, detail-oriented, and eager to contribute to a world-class fan environment in professional sports. Interns will report directly to the Guest Experience Manager and collaborate cross-departmentally.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Event Support

Assist with all phases of event operations, including staff check-in, pre-event setup, concourse presence, and post-event breakdown.

Support the delivery of exceptional guest experience by greeting fans throughout the stadium, answering questions, and helping maintain a welcoming environment in all guest-facing areas.

Provide proactive and professional guest assistance, escalating and resolving concerns in coordination with supervisors and leadership.

Staffing & Employee Engagement

Support staff scheduling logistics and management of 100+ part-time ambassadors.

Assist with attendance tracking, incentive programs, and employee communications.

Distribute, maintain, and inventory staff uniforms and gameday supplies.

Support onboarding and training initiatives for new team members.

Operational Preparedness

Assist with creation and updates of matchday guides and department resources.

Participate in pre-event briefings and post-event recaps with Guest Experience leadership.

Conduct research to identify enhancements to fan experience and stadium hospitality programs.

Collaboration & Administrative Support

Work cross-functionally with Operations, Facility Services, Ticketing, Sales, and Partnerships teams.

Maintain lost and found documentation and inventory organization.

Assist in collecting data, gameday reporting, and operational notes to drive continuous improvement.

Requirements:
  • Eligible to receive college credit for internship
  • Eligible to attend full-stadium events and most corporate/entertainment events
  • Ability to work event/match days
  • Experience in sports or events is a plus
  • Must be able to successfully pass a background check
