Job description

About the job
ODK Media, Inc. is a media group headquartered in Irvine, CA that provides access to premium international content through its owned and operated streaming platforms, including OnDemandKorea, OnDemandChina, OnDemandViet, and Amasian TV. It also distributes content to global streaming services, cable operators, and movie theaters, serving as the Asian media hub for AAPI communities across the country.
We are seeking a Digital Content & Social Strategy Intern to join the team behind Amasian TV, our FAST (Free Ad-supported Streaming TV) platform! Designed for current students or recent grads who are fans of K-dramas, anime, and Asian cinema, this internship focuses on hands-on video editing and audience growth. You will spend your time identifying stand-out scenes from our catalog, editing vertical clips, and testing different hooks to see what drives views on social media. Working alongside our content and social media team, you'll help bridge the gap between our long-form streaming library and short-form discovery on TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts.
What You Will Gain
  • Hands-On Channel Management: Gain experience publishing to a rapidly growing brand account, seeing your edits go live and tracking how audiences engage with each clip.
  • Technical Skills: Gain practical, hands-on proficiency in vertical video editing software (e.g., CapCut, Premiere), digital asset management, and content workflow optimization.
  • Data-Driven Growth Analytics: Analyze platform and social metrics (watch time, hook retention, engagement rates) to see what drives social reach and helps expand Amasian TV's overall streaming audience.
  • Streaming Industry Insight: Gain direct exposure to the FAST (Free Ad-supported Streaming TV) landscape and see how long-form catalog assets are repurposed for digital marketing.
  • Direct Mentorship: Work closely with team leads in Content, Operations and Marketing, receiving regular feedback and guidance on your work.

Roles & Responsibilities
  • Catalog Curation: Review long-form library titles (K-dramas, anime, movies) to identify high-interest, hook-driven scenes suited for short-form discovery.
  • Vertical Video Editing: Reframe 16:9 cinematic footage into optimized 9:16 vertical edits using CapCut or Premiere, adhering to official brand formatting guidelines.
  • Social Strategy & Experimentation: Brainstorm, test, and pitch creative social initiatives for TikTok
  • Cultural & Social Trend Tracking: Keep a daily pulse on broader pop culture, viral entertainment news, celebrity moments, and social media trends to strategically align our catalog titles with what audiences are actively discussing online.
  • Performance Tracking: Monitor post analytics (watch time, completion rate, shares) to understand performance patterns and refine future clip selections.

Skills & Qualifications
  • Enthusiasm for Asian Pop Culture: A genuine interest in Asian entertainment (K-dramas, anime, films, K-pop) and active familiarity with popular titles, tropes, and online fan communities.
  • Short-Form Storytelling Sense: An understanding of what makes a compelling 3-second hook on TikTok, Reels, and YouTube Shorts.
  • Basic Video Editing Skills: Hands-on experience with vertical video editing tools (CapCut, Premiere, or mobile editors), including adding captions, clean cuts, and audio syncing.
  • Social Media Copywriting: Ability to write engaging captions and utilize relevant keywords/hashtags tailored to Asian entertainment audiences.
  • Positive & Collaborative Mindset: A proactive attitude, eagerness to learn, and comfort taking feedback and trying new creative approaches.
  • Reliability & Communication: Strong time-management skills to consistently hit content deadlines and communicate clearly with the team.

Strongly Preferred
  • Local Availability (Orange County/Irvine): Ability to work part-time with flexible scheduling around university classes. Open to in-office collaboration (Monday-Thursday in Irvine) and/or Friday remote work.

Perks & Benefits
  • Catered lunch every day with varying local cuisines and a kitchen stocked with drinks and snacks.
  • Corporate parties, team bonding events, and much more!
