Job Summary

The Program Coordinator develops, facilitates, and manages a variety of special events and program functions within the Recreation department. This position oversees the regular program operations and supervises Recreation interns and staff members. This role is heavily focused on managing resort recreation programs across locations on the island during peak summer season, while focusing on planning and enhancing programs and events during the off season.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversees and assists Recreation interns with summer programs including daily arts and crafts, teens and kids programs, adult programs (21+), Camp Fripp and family activities.
  • Develops and implements plans for a variety of guest services including holidays, special events, children, teens, family activities, day and evening programs.
  • Communicates clearly with Recreation Staff on all aspects of events and programs, including planning, organizing, ordering, staffing and executing necessary procedures for a successful event.
  • Assists in training of new employees and interns.
  • Greets and interacts with visitors to the Activity Center, acting as a first point of contact for the Recreation department.
  • Gains exposure to resort operations to be able to offer correct information to guests about the island.
  • Takes reservations for recreation activities both in-person and over the phone.
  • Maintains inventory of supplies; informs the Recreation Director on a weekly basis of supply levels.
  • Handles opening and closing procedures in the Activity Center, as well as completing daily operational tasks as required, including general upkeep of the building.
  • Assists in animal care duties, including handling of reptiles and manning daily Meet the Animals programs as needed.
  • Operates the Activity Center’s retail POS system to complete guest retail transactions.
  • Requires original thinking, creativity, good communication skills, flexibility and resourcefulness.
  • Displays a friendly, approachable, and energetic attitude, generating enthusiasm through guest contact to promote recreational programs and activities on a daily basis.
  • Attend and participate in regular meetings with recreation staff and interns.
  • Provides assistance or backup coverage to other recreation employees as needed.
  • Performs special projects and additional tasks as assigned.

Compensation & Benefits

Compensation is $16 per hour with Medical, Dental and Vision benefits available after 60 days of full-time employment. PTO Eligible after 6 months. The benefits of Fripp Island Golf and Beach Resort can be made available with supervisor approval and include, but not limited to; resort amenities including restaurants, fitness center, pools, golf, tennis, kayaking, volleyball, and basketball.
