Job description

Who We AreUnited Contractor Services is a specialty subcontractor that self-performs commercial interior construction nationwide - metal framing, drywall, acoustical ceilings, EIFS, stucco, painting, and Division 8 & 10 specialties. We work on everything from large-scale commercial builds to community and institutional spaces. Our estimating group sits at the front end of all of it.What This Job IsThis is an entry point into commercial construction estimating. You'll work under senior estimators and project managers, learning how a bid comes together from plan review to submitted number. Early on, you'll spend most of your time on quantity takeoffs, gathering vendor and supplier pricing, and assembling bid documents. As you gain experience, you'll take on more of the estimate yourself. We're looking for someone who wants to become a full estimator, not someone looking for a temporary stop.Day-to-Day ResponsibilitiesPerform quantity takeoffs from drawings and specifications across multiple interior tradesAssist senior estimators in assembling cost estimates for labor, material, and equipmentRequest and track quotes from vendors and suppliers; organize pricing for comparisonReview plans and specs to identify scope, exclusions, and items requiring clarificationMaintain the bid calendar, log invitations to bid, and keep bid files organized and currentSit in on pre-bid meetings and site walks; take notes and track open itemsSupport handoff to project management once a job is awardedWhat You Need1+ years of estimating, takeoff, or construction experience. Field experience in interior trades counts, as does an internship or a degree in construction management, building science, or a related fieldAbility to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications, or a demonstrated ability to learn quicklySolid math skills and comfort working in ExcelAttention to detail - small errors in a takeoff turn into real money on a bidOrganized enough to juggle several bids at different stages without losing trackWillingness to ask questions and take directionHelpful, Not RequiredExposure to On-Screen Takeoff, Bluebeam, Procore, or similar estimating and takeoff softwareFamiliarity with commercial interior scopes - framing, drywall, ceilings, or finishesExperience working with general contractors on the bid sideWhat We OfferDirect training from experienced estimators and project managers, not a sink-or-swim handoffA defined path from junior to full estimator based on demonstrated abilityExposure to a wide range of trades and project types, which builds a broader skill set than a single-scope shopA national company with room to move as you growCompetitive pay and benefitsApply today! The United Family of Companies is an equal opportunity employer.
