Job description

Construction Executive
BizGro Partners | Portfolio Construction Leadership Role
Role Overview
We are seeking a high-impact Construction Executive to oversee and drive performance across a multi-entity specialty trade portfolio exceeding $40M+ in annual revenue.
This is not a traditional operations role. You are a multiplier someone who can operate at both the field and executive level. You must be equally comfortable auditing a drywall estimate, coaching a project team, and negotiating directly with Tier-1 General Contractors.
This role aligns closely with our Senior Portfolio Management Executive (SPME) operating model, where the focus is on margin discipline, execution accountability, financial visibility, and leadership alignment across multiple companies .
Portfolio Responsibility
You will oversee a $42M revenue portfolio across four operating entities:
  • $15M Paint & Waterproofing (Primary Focus - In Person)
    • Daily operational leadership
    • Launch and scale drywall division
  • $10M Drywall Company (Remote Oversight)
    • Estimating audit, margin protection, executive escalation
  • $10M Stucco Company (Remote Oversight)
    • Financial performance and schedule adherence
  • $7M Paint Company (Remote Oversight)
    • Leadership development and quality control
Core Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
  • Drive execution across all companies with full accountability to KPIs
  • Ensure on-time, on-budget project delivery
  • Monitor labor productivity, efficiency, and capacity planning

Financial & Margin Discipline
  • Protect margins across all entities (non-negotiable)
  • Review job costing, WIP, backlog, and forecast accuracy weekly
  • Identify and escalate margin compression early

Portfolio Oversight
  • Manage performance across multiple businesses using a "trust but verify" approach
  • Ensure leadership teams are aligned and accountable
  • Maintain consistent reporting cadence and execution discipline

Sales & Client Management
  • Maintain Tier-1 GC relationships (Skanska, Barr & Barr, JE Dunn)
  • Enforce pricing discipline and proper change order execution
  • Support profitable growth not just revenue expansion

Strategic Growth
  • Lead the Drywall Pivot within the paint entity
  • Expand service offerings without eroding existing margins
  • Build scalable, repeatable operational systems
Qualifications
  • 10+ years in specialty trade construction (Finishes, Envelope, Div 9/12)
  • Strong background in both estimating and project management
  • Experience managing multi-entity or multi-division operations
  • Proven ability to scale or diversify service lines (Drywall preferred)
  • B.S. in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (preferred)
Leadership Profile: "Humble Authority"
This role requires a rare leadership balance:
  • Empathetic but decisive - understands field challenges but enforces standards
  • No ego leadership - does not lead with "I'm busy," leads with clarity and ownership
  • High accountability - holds teams to commitments without exception
  • Executive presence - respected in the boardroom and trusted in the field
  • "Iron fist in a velvet glove" - likable, but firm when it matters
Success Metrics
  • Margin stability and improvement across all entities
  • Increased forecast accuracy and backlog predictability
  • Strong execution cadence and KPI accountability
  • Successful drywall integration into existing operations
  • Reduced variance between planned vs. actual performance
Executive Summary
We are looking for a Construction Executive who sees a $40M+ portfolio not as a burden but as a system to optimize.
You lead through people.
You protect margin like it's your own.
You bring clarity where others bring noise.
