Job description

Join our team as a Staff Pharmacist and play a vital role in delivering exceptional pharmaceutical care. In this position, you will:
  • Review and verify medication orders for accuracy, safety, and appropriateness.
  • Provide clinical services including medication reconciliation, discharge education, and pharmacokinetic/anticoagulation dosing.
  • Serve as a trusted drug information resource for healthcare professionals.
  • Participate in medication safety initiatives, including error reporting and process improvements.
  • Supervise pharmacy technicians and interns while ensuring compliance with best practices.
  • Use your expertise and critical thinking to enhance patient care and optimize medication management.

Job Duties:
  • Prepare, compound, and dispense medications (including sterile, chemotherapy, and parenteral nutrition) per provider orders and regulatory standards.
  • Verify medication orders for accuracy; perform dosing calculations for specialized therapies (pediatric, chemo, TPN).
  • Maintain controlled substance records and monitor for diversion risks.
  • Provide clinical services: monitor drug therapy, labs, and pharmacokinetics; recommend dosing adjustments and antibiotic therapy changes.
  • Detect and report adverse drug reactions; promote formulary compliance and cost-effective medication use.
  • Serve as a drug information resource for healthcare staff.
  • Supervise and verify work of pharmacy technicians and interns; assist as needed.
  • Participate in code teams and ensure timely delivery of pharmacy services.
  • Optimize inventory and identify process improvements for patient care and medication management.
  • Maintain licensure, attend meetings, complete training, and stay current with pharmacy practices.
  • Adhere to hospital and department standards: professionalism, confidentiality, safety, and compliance with all regulations.

Requirements:
  • Graduate of an ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy (BS or PharmD).
  • Current Wisconsin pharmacist license in good standing (and any other states licensed).
  • Prior hospital pharmacy experience, including unit-dose systems, USP compounding standards, pharmacokinetics, and pharmacy computer systems.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English; ability to collaborate effectively with patients and healthcare teams.
  • Competency in pharmacokinetic monitoring, anticoagulation, and hospital pharmacotherapy.

Benefits and Salary:
Starting at $61.72/hour, with higher pay based on experience.
