Required Qualifications: (as evidenced by an attached resume)
Ph.D. (or foreign equivalent) in hand by Sept 1, 2026.

Preferred Qualifications:
Ph.D. (or foreign equivalent) in marine sciences, ecology and evolutionary biology or a closely related field. Experience with computational analysis. Experience in assembling and analyzing short-read data (e.g., Illumina) or long-read data (e.g., Oxford Nanopore). Experience in microbial ecology, metagenomics, molecular genetics, and / or evolution.

Brief Description of Duties: 
The Postdoctoral Associate will conduct research in marine microbial ecology, in the School of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences under the supervision of Principal Investigator, Dr. Elaine Luo. Successful candidates will have attention to detail, experience working in teams, and strong communication skills, both oral and written.

Postdoctoral Associate duties will include:

     Using predetermined scope and methodology, conduct research in marine microbial ecology.

     Conduct data analysis and create data products.

     Write manuscripts for publication in appropriate specialized journals.

     Write proposals for external support.

     Participate in the supervision of junior lab members such as students or interns.

     Other duties as assigned.

The Research Foundation of SUNY is a private educational corporation. Employment is subject to the Research Foundation policies and procedures, sponsor guidelines and the availability of funding. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption.
