Description:

The Translation Project Manager oversees the full lifecycle of Englishโ€“Spanish translation projects, ensuring accurate, highquality translated deliverables across digital and print platforms. This role manages timelines, vendors, budgets, and workflows while maintaining strong communication with internal teams and external suppliers. The ideal candidate brings strong project management skills, demonstrated translation experience, and the ability to maintain consistency, quality, and alignment with source content.


NCCER is looking for a committed, smart, creative, solutions-oriented project manager who cares about supporting Spanish-speaking learners. As the NCCER Translation Project Manager, your skills and talents will help us deliver Spanish-language materials used around the world to train construction craft professionals at high schools, vocational schools, colleges, and construction training centers.


Major Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Lead translation projects from initial inquiry through delivery, ensuring adherence to scope, timeline, and budget.
  2. Serve as the primary liaison between internal teams and translation vendors, contractors, and copyeditors.
  3. Obtain vendor quotes and manage cost and timeline estimates
  4. Communicate status updates to stakeholders.
  5. Develop project schedules to track deliverables.
  6. Coordinate file transfers, version control, and deadlines for translations, edits, and desktop publishing (DTP).
  7. Maintain organized tracking for all translation assets, workflows, and production files.
  8. Oversee quality control, including feedback cycles, editing checks, linguistic accuracy, and formatting consistency.
  9. Review/edit translated content as needed.
  10. Ensure alignment between translated materials and English source documents, including versioning updates.
  11. Collaborate with editorial and layout teams to prepare final files for print and digital publishing.
  12. Recruit, onboard, train, and supervise translation-related contractors such as copyeditors and layout specialists.
  13. Create and maintain documentation for translation workflows, standards, and production processes.
  14. Perform additional duties as needed to support departmental goals and continuous improvement.
Requirements:
  • Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish?(written and spoken).
  • 3+ years of project management experience, preferably in publishing, digital content, or related industries.
  • 1โ€“2 years of translation or localization experience, ideally English ? Spanish.
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Translation, Linguistics, Communications, or a related field preferred.
  • Strong organizational, multitasking, and time management abilities in deadline driven environments.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and sound judgment.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Proactive, positive, and solutions-oriented mindset.
  • Occasional travel may be required.
  • Reliable attendance and performance.

Software & Technical Skills

  • Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams)
  • Computer proficiency (PC or Mac OS)??
  • Proficiency with Smartsheet
  • Working knowledge of print and digital production workflows
  • Familiarity with content management systems (CMS), such as Alfresco
  • Familiarity with digital asset management systems, such as Aprimo
