The Cigna Group's Technology Development Program (TECDP) Software Engineering Summer Internship

Get ready to embark on an exhilarating summer adventure with The Cigna Group's Technology Development Program Summer Internship! We are on the lookout for passionate individuals who are eager to dive into the world of technology and make a real difference in healthcare.

Over the course of 12 dynamic weeks, you'll have the chance to work on impactful technology projects, receive comprehensive training, and benefit from invaluable mentorship that will supercharge your career.

What You Will Do

  • Meaningful Role Work: Work within the Software Engineering track, where you'll design, build, and deliver scalable applications and platforms that support better healthcare outcomes. Gain hands-on experience solving real-world challenges, deepening your technical skills, and driving innovation across The Cigna Group.
  • Learning From Others: Engage with peers, mentors, and cross-functional partners through community-building activities and collaborative initiatives. Whether you're supporting recruiting efforts, driving innovation, promoting community, or enhancing onboarding experiences, you'll learn by doing and growing through shared knowledge.
  • Formal Education and Curriculum: Participate in structured learning through both core and track-specific curriculum. This includes technical training, leadership development, and exposure to the business designed to support your growth as a well-rounded technologist.

Qualifications

What you need to do the job:

  • Must be currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical field.
  • Relevant coursework, projects, research, internships, hackathons, coding competitions, open-source contributions, or collaborative software development experience.
  • Foundational proficiency in one or more programming languages, such as Python, Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, C#, or a comparable language.
  • Exposure to front-end, back-end, full-stack, application programming interface, database, cloud, testing, version control, or software development lifecycle concepts.
  • Familiarity with Git or another version control system and an interest in agile, collaborative development practices.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts, solve problems, learn new tools, and work effectively with technical and nontechnical partners.
  • Exposure to generative artificial intelligence tools used in software development, such as GitHub Copilot or Cursor, is preferred.
  • A GPA of 3.3 or higher is preferred.

Additional Information

Locations: The role requires a hybrid work schedule, with a minimum of three days per week working onsite (Tuesday, Wednesday, and one additional day of the employee's choice), and the option to work the remaining days remotely. Employees must be able to meet the onsite schedule.

Program Schedule: You must be available to work a 40-hour work week beginning May 24th, 2027. Working days are Monday - Friday.

Compensation: The anticipated hourly pay range for this role is $25.00 to $33.00 per hour. Actual compensation will be determined based on factors such as skills, education, experience, and location.

Work Authorization / Visa Sponsorship: One goal of this leadership development program is to prepare and identify qualified candidates for leadership roles with The Cigna Group upon program completion. Therefore, this position is open only to individuals who are eligible for employment in the United States and who do not now, or in the future, require visa sponsorship including, but not limited to, H-1B, CPT/OPT/STEM.

Pre-Employment Requirements: Selected candidates will be required to complete mandatory pre-employment tasks approximately 45 days prior to the program's start date. Completion of the drug test requires availability within the United States during this timeframe.
