Co-op Student – Civil/Structural Engineering

Freeport Container Port Project | Freeport, Bahamas
Term: Fall 2026 (September – December)

About the Project

Join our team on the Freeport Container Port project in Freeport, Bahamas — a major marine infrastructure development involving port facility construction and expansion. This is an excellent opportunity for a student to gain hands-on experience on a large-scale, international heavy civil construction project.

Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated Civil/Structural Engineering co-op student to support our project team for the Fall 2026 term (September–December). The successful candidate will work alongside our engineering and construction management staff, gaining practical exposure to all phases of construction execution, from field engineering to project documentation.

Responsibilities
  • Assist project engineers with reviewing structural and civil drawings, specifications, and shop drawings
  • Support quantity takeoffs and material tracking for concrete, steel, and marine structural components
  • Help prepare and maintain project documentation, RFIs, submittals, and daily reports
  • Conduct field observations and quality assurance checks alongside site engineering staff
  • Support surveying, layout verification, and as-built documentation
  • Assist with scheduling updates and progress tracking
  • Participate in site meetings and coordinate with subcontractors as directed
  • Support QA/QC documentation related to marine and structural works (piling, sheet piling, concrete decking, etc.)
  • Perform other engineering support duties as assigned by the Project Engineer or Site Manager
Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled in a Civil or Structural Engineering degree program, with co-op/internship requirements
  • Strong interest in heavy civil, marine, or port infrastructure construction
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and/or Civil 3D an asset
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word); familiarity with project management or scheduling software is a plus
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • Willingness to work on-site in Freeport, Bahamas for the duration of the term
  • Valid passport and ability to travel internationally
