The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Engineering Intern for our Transportation group in our Indianapolis office.


Position Overview:

Internship positions at PRIME provide college students an opportunity to gain real-world experience in their specific field of study. Interns will work alongside world-class professionals in a fast-paced, professional setting which provides interns with invaluable experiences applying the knowledge and skills learned through education in a business environment.


Primary Responsibilites:

  • Performing routine aspects of engineering requiring knowledge and application of basic engineering principles under close supervision on roadway/multimodal/highway/bridge design projects as the primary focus with possible exposure to inspection as well.
  • Using computer-assisted engineering software and equipment to perform engineering tasks.
  • Collecting and preparing data for evaluation.
  • Assisting in the coordination of projects from conception (feasibility) through final plan preparations.
  • Providing support to Engineering staff members as needed (drafting, computations, reviewing/proofing, field work etc.)


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Enrolled in an accredited civil engineering program, with a concentration in transportation, traffic, or structural bridge design.
  • Ability to work a hybrid schedule 1-2 days in office.
  • Working knowledge of Word and Excel.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD and/or MicroStation or Bentley ORD, preferred.
  • Strong analytical, conceptual, communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to effectively interface with all levels of personnel and management.
  • Ability to work and thrive in a team environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to self-motivate and work productively without supervision.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
