Job description

Join a leading commercial landscaping company dedicated to maintaining high-performance equipment and supporting a collaborative, safety-focused work environment. As a Small Engine Mechanic – Mobile (Bilingual English/Spanish), you will play a vital role in ensuring our fleet of gas-powered and electric landscaping equipment operates efficiently across multiple branch locations. This mobile position is based in Orange, CA, with regular travel to Gardena and Jurupa Valley branches. Responsibilities
  • Diagnose, service, and repair a variety of gas-powered and electric commercial landscaping equipment, including blowers, weed eaters, push mowers, ride-on and stand-on mowers, with a focus on Kress and Mean Green electric equipment.
  • Handle warranty-related diagnostics for electric equipment and coordinate major repairs as needed to ensure compliance and cost efficiency.
  • Perform minor repairs and part replacements on small utility vehicles; major engine overhauls are not required.
  • Assess repair needs, submit purchase order requests, pick up parts from suppliers, and maintain organized parts inventory at each branch.
  • Assist with light fabrication tasks and general handyman duties to support branch operations.
  • Meet with crews and branch managers each morning to identify equipment issues, prioritize repairs, and provide clear updates in both English and Spanish.
  • Follow all company safety protocols, maintain a clean and organized mobile work setup, and operate a company vehicle responsibly.
  • Document repairs, parts usage, and maintenance activities; keep inventory records up to date.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 1 year of hands-on small engine repair experience; experience with commercial landscaping equipment is preferred.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is required for effective communication with crews and staff.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Strong understanding of gas (two- and four-stroke) and electric motor systems, electrical troubleshooting, batteries, controllers, and standard diagnostic procedures for outdoor power equipment.
  • Manufacturer certifications are a plus but not required.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills; ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. regularly, work outdoors in various weather conditions, and perform physical tasks such as standing, bending, kneeling, and using tools for extended periods.
Compensation

$24.00 – $40.00 per hour, based on experience. Overtime available with prior approval.
