The SAP Internship Experience Program is SAP’s global, strategic, paid internship program that provides university students with opportunities to find purpose in their careers. This is more than an internship, it’s the foundation for a career built on connection, creativity, and impact.


Position title: SAP iXp Intern – Full-Stack Software Engineer
Location: Palo Alto, California
Expected start date to end date: July 2026 - January 2027

  • Work on cutting edge AI innovation, leveraging the latest frontier models, terminal agents, and AI harnesses.
  • Implement new AI prototypes and work on research in collaboration with Stanford and silicon valley AI startups
  • Work on fine tuning models, continued pre-training, reinforcement learning and developing benchmarks

What You’ll Bring


We’re looking for someone who takes initiative, perseveres, and stay curious. You like to work on meaningful innovative projects and are energized by lifelong learning.

  • Bachelors or Masters in a related field.
  • Must be currently enrolled (with at least one semester or grading period completed before internship commences) or recently graduated (start date must be within 6 months of graduation date) from a coding academy/bootcamp, apprenticeship, associate, bachelor’s, master’s or JD/PhD program.
  • Strong programming skills in one programming language (best Python or Java)
  • Strong familiarity with agentic engineering, terminal agents, coding harnesses
  • Experience developing rich applications with HTML/CSS/JS
  • Strong communication skills that include the ability to effectively articulate technical challenges and solutions.
  • Thrive in a fast-paced environment working with multiple teams across various geographies

The Research & Innovation team in Silicon Valley explores and prototypes emerging technologies that can be foundational for SAP and its customers. The team works in an agile, cross-functional way across engineering, product, and external collaboration, while benefiting from the reach of a large global company.


Current work spans enterprise AI and developer productivity, including model development and benchmarking, collaboration with adjacent teams on new approaches, evaluation tooling and datasets, and support for context-rich workflows grounded in SAP.


Recent topics across the team include supporting the SAP Business AI Platform and the Autonomous Enterprise, research with Stanford and UCI, benchmark development, cutting-edge prototypes and technical evaluation of AI startups.
