7-Eleven is looking for an early-career AI Engineer to join our AI SDLC team. This role is ideal for candidates who have recently completed their Master's degree and want to use AI to improve how software is built, tested, documented, and released across our engineering organization.
About the Role:
You will help create AI tools that support software engineers throughout the development lifecycle. You will work on practical use cases such as code assistance, test generation, documentation support, engineering search, and workflow automation. You will also help improve the quality and reliability of these tools through evaluation, testing, and clear operating practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build AI tools and workflows that help engineering teams work faster and improve software delivery
- Support use cases such as code generation, test creation, pull request summaries, documentation support, and engineering knowledge search
- Help integrate AI capabilities into developer tools, APIs, CI/CD pipelines, and internal engineering platforms
- Work with software engineers, platform teams, product managers, architects, and security partners to identify useful automation opportunities
- Help evaluate AI output and improve tool quality, reliability, and safe use in engineering workflows
- Document solutions, experiments, and team practices so they can be reused and scaled across engineering
Basic Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, AI, Data Science, or a related field (recent graduates preferred)
- Strong foundation in Python or Java and software engineering practices such as version control, testing, debugging, and code review
- Understanding of the software development lifecycle and how AI can improve engineering workflows
- Exposure to LLM tools, prompt design, and frameworks used for RAG, tool orchestration, evaluation, and AI workflow automation such as LangChain or Semantic Kernel
- Familiarity with cloud platforms, APIs, and CI/CD environments such as AWS, Azure, GitHub Actions, or Azure DevOps
Preferred Qualifications:
- Internship, research, or project experience related to developer tools, software engineering automation, or AI-assisted development
- Exposure to RAG, vector search, evaluation tools, or knowledge-based AI applications
- Familiarity with Docker, REST APIs, developer platforms, or integration of AI services into enterprise engineering environments
- Awareness of responsible AI practices, including output checks, safety controls, and human review
