What is an internship robotics?

An Internship Robotics job is a temporary position where students or recent graduates gain hands-on experience in robotics engineering, programming, or research. Interns typically work on projects involving robotics design, automation, AI, or hardware development under the supervision of experienced professionals. This role helps develop technical skills, problem-solving abilities, and industry knowledge, preparing interns for future careers in robotics or related fields.

What types of projects or tasks can I expect to work on during an internship robotics?

As a Robotics Intern, you can expect to be involved in a range of hands-on and theoretical tasks, such as hardware assembly, programming and testing robot behaviors, assisting with system integration, and contributing to research or data collection. You might work closely with experienced engineers and researchers, participating in team meetings, brainstorming sessions, and problem-solving discussions. Interns often get opportunities to use industry-standard tools, gain exposure to the entire development cycle, and take on incremental responsibility as they demonstrate their skills. These experiences are designed to give you practical insights into the field while supporting the ongoing work of the robotics team. This collaborative environment helps interns develop both technical proficiency and valuable professional relationships for their future careers.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in an internship robotics position, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Internship Robotics candidate, you generally need a background in engineering, computer science, or a related field, along with foundational knowledge in robotics principles and programming (e.g., Python, C++, ROS). Familiarity with hardware prototyping tools, simulation environments, and relevant software platforms is often required, and certifications in robotics or embedded systems can be advantageous. Strong problem-solving abilities, teamwork, and effective communication are standout soft skills in this position. These competencies enable interns to successfully contribute to projects, adapt to technical challenges, and collaborate efficiently in multidisciplinary robotics teams.

Schaumburg, IL โ€ข On-site

Re-posted 5 days ago

Job description

Rapyutaย Robotics, an ETH Zurich spinoff,ย operatesย with the goal of making robots more accessible to anyone in theย logisticsย industry. Rapyuta Robotics seeks individuals who believe that collaborationย leads to more effective and sustainable outcomes and are fearless in challenging limits - whether within themselves or in their surroundings - to make a dent in the universe.ย

As a Sales and Solutions Engineer, you will own deals end to end - fromย theย firstย customerย conversation to data-driven solution design, to proposalย development, to close - working both directly with customers and alongside our channel and integration partners. You will dig into a prospect's operation, model what an automated solution looks like for them, andย deliver customer value, helping grow our U.S. commercial team as we scale Automated Storage & Retrieval Systems (ASRS) and Pick-Assist Autonomous Mobile Robots (PA-AMR) across distribution and fulfillment operations.ย

This is aย cross-functionalย role for peopleย who are equally comfortable in front of a customer, across the table from a partner, and inside a spreadsheet.ย It'sย aย high-ownership, ground-floor seat,ย whereย you'llย touch the entireย commercialย processย early,ย build andย own partner relationships thatย driveย real revenue, and grow asย quicklyย as youย demonstrateย you'reย ready.ย

We welcome ambitious recent graduates and exceptional early-careerย professionals who are eager to take on meaningful responsibility from day one. Ifย you'reย excitedย byย robotics,ย logistics, and solving complex operational challenges,ย we'dย love to hear from you.

Key Responsibilitiesย

  • End-to-Endย Sales Ownershipย - Own assigned accounts and opportunities across the full sales cycle, fromย prospecting and discovery through solutioning,ย proposal, and close;ย maintainย a clean,ย accurateย pipeline and forecast.ย
  • Discovery & Solution Designย - Run discovery on customer operations (orderย profiles, SKU data, throughput requirements, andย process flow) and build solution models in Excel (storage sizing, throughput and labor analysis, and ROI cases), working closely with the data & analytics and solution enablement squads in India to translate them into clear, customer-facingย proposals.ย
  • Customer Engagement & Partnershipsย - Lead and support customer meetings, demos, and on-site visits; partner with internal engineering andย product teams to scope andย validateย solutions; and build and manage relationships with channel and integration partners.ย

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent background)ย inย Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Logistics, Operations,ย orย related fields.ย
  • Excelย proficiency:ย comfortable working with real data sets, building models, and turning numbers into a story.ย
  • Strongย process and systemsย thinking,ย with the ability to analyze operational workflows andย identifyย improvement opportunities.ย
  • A genuineย solutioningย instinct: you like solving the customer'sย problem, not just pitching aย product.ย
  • Outgoing and confidentย in front of customers:ย you can carry a room, a call, andย follow-up.ย
  • Highlyย self-directed; thrives with ownership and ambiguity.ย
  • Willing and able toย relocateย to the Greater Chicago areaย andย travelย as needed for customer engagements and site visits.ย
  • Authorized to work in the U.S.; visa sponsorship is not available for this position.ย

Nice to Have

  • Exposure to warehousing, distribution, fulfillment, or material-handling environments.
  • Familiarity with data tools beyond Excel (SQL, Python, Tableau, etc.).
  • Prior sales, customer-facing, or internship experience.

Benefits

  • Competitiveย compensationย depending on experienceย and qualificationsย
  • Comprehensiveย Healthย benefitsย (Medical, Dental, Vision)ย
  • 401(k)ย Starter planย ย
  • Relocationย assistanceย (if applicable)ย
  • Global Impact: Work at theย cutting edgeย of robotics and AI, transforming real-worldย logisticsย operationsย
  • Growth Opportunities: Grow with our expanding U.S. business and take on meaningful responsibility as we scale.ย
