Job description

Recruiting Intern

Where Healthcare Meets Talent

Walker Healthforce is a specialized healthcare staffing and IT consulting firm that connects exceptional professionals with leading organizations across the healthcare ecosystem. We focus exclusively at the intersection of healthcare, technology, and business — placing talent in Healthcare IT, business operations, and care management roles across health systems, payers, and consulting firms nationwide.

 What You'll Be Doing

As a Recruiter Intern at Walker Healthforce, you will be embedded in our team and exposed to the full recruiting lifecycle — from sourcing and outreach to screening and coordination. This is not a passive, observational internship. You will contribute directly to active searches and develop real skills that translate to a career in recruiting, sales, or healthcare operations.

Candidate Sourcing & Research

  • Search LinkedIn, Indeed, and industry-specific platforms to identify qualified candidates in Healthcare IT, care management, and business operations
  • Build talent pipelines for specialized roles such as EHR specialists, clinical informaticists, care coordinators, case managers, and other healthcare positions.
  • Develop working knowledge of our ATS (Bullhorn) and industry job boards.

Candidate Screening & Engagement

  • Review resumes to evaluate alignment with client requirements across technical, clinical, and professional dimensions
  • Conduct initial outreach and pre-screening conversations to assess candidate qualifications, interest, and fit
  • Maintain timely, professional communication with candidates throughout the process

Recruitment Operations & Coordination

  • Schedule and coordinate interviews between candidates and the recruiting team
  • Maintain accurate candidate records in the Applicant Tracking System (ATS)
  • Support active requisitions through pipelining of candidates.

Market Intelligence & Learning

  • Build familiarity with key healthcare verticals, including health systems, managed care organizations, health plans, and consulting firms
  • Participate in team meetings, training, and company-wide meetings/events

Required

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a bachelor's or graduate degree, certificate, or relevant coursework in Human Resources, Business, Communications, Marketing, Healthcare Administration, or a related field
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a polished, professional presence
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and comfort with digital tools and platforms

Preferred

  • Prior coursework, internship, or work experience in healthcare, recruiting, or sales
  • Familiarity with healthcare terminology, care delivery models, or health information technology
  • Experience using LinkedIn, ATS platforms, or CRM tools
  • Genuine curiosity about the healthcare industry and interest in recruiting as a profession
