Job description
PURPOSE STATEMENT:Â
Plan, organize and direct aspects of risk management activities in such a manner as to ensure facility compliance with laws, regulations and the standards of the accrediting and approval agencies.Â
ResponsibilitiesESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Â
- Direct and oversee the risk management program in collaboration with the corporate risk manager designee. Â
- Investigate and analyze actual and potential risks in the facility; assess liability and probability of legal action for potential notification. Implement, educate and encourage incident reporting system throughout the facility.Â
- Monitor and analyze program performance data to determine program effectiveness and identify opportunities for improvement. Insure compliance with all administrative requirements. Â
- Analyze and evaluate the effectiveness of programs or operations in meeting established goals and objectives in compliance with facility policy. Â
- Responsible for identifying high-risk areas that could cause harm to persons receiving services, visitors, and employees. Collaborate with clinical staff and management for prevention of clinical risks throughout the facility.Â
- Develop and lead educational activities to enhance the clinical understanding and utilization of the Full Disclosure process. Â
- Maintain database of full disclosure activities and provide oversight for review programs and provides technical support as needed. Â
- Provide staff management to including hiring, development, training, performance management and communication to ensure effective and efficient department operation.Â
- Serve as a resource and consultant for risk management activities, performance improvement, policy/procedure development and compliance initiatives. Â
- Create and implement policies and procedures that improve both patient care and employee safety. Ensure the application of institutional policies, especially those regarding patient rights, confidentiality and full disclosure. Â

QualificationsEDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:Â
- Bachelor's degree in a clinical healthcare field, risk management, business, finance, or a related field required. Â
- Master's degree in health information management, nursing, or related field preferred.Â
- One or more years' supervisory experience required.Â
LICENSES/DESIGNATIONS/CERTIFICATIONS: Â
- Certifications related to health care risk management, safety, and or process improvement highly preferred.Â
- CPR and de-escalation/restraint certification required (training available upon hire and offered by facility).Â
- First aid may be required based on state or facility.Â
