About Us
Albany State University is a fully accredited senior unit of the University System of Georgia. Our West Campus is located at 2400 Gillionville Road, Albany, GA 31707. Our East Campus is located at 504 College Drive, Albany, GA 31705. The Human Resources office for both campuses is located on the West Campus in Building K, Suite 209.
Job Summary
Reporting to the Head Football Coach, the Special Teams Coordinator is responsible for assisting with the management of all operational activities of a Division II sports program while working closely with both the Offensive and Defensive Coordinators to maximize player contributions across all six phases of special teams.
Sponsorship is not available for this position.
Responsibilities
  • Tactical Execution: Lead the preparation and organization of daily special teams practice sessions and game preparation for both championship and non-championship segments.
  • Recruitment: Assist with organizing and administering the recruiting of prospective student-athletes in accordance with the NCAA, SIAC, University System of Georgia, and Albany State University policies and procedures.
  • Supervision: Assist with the proper supervision and evaluation of interns, graduate assistants, managers, and/or work-study students assigned to the special teams unit.
  • Compliance & Academics: Responsible for monitoring and supporting student-athletes' academic progress in consultation and coordination with department and institution academic support staff. Maintain strict collaboration with the Compliance Officer regarding all NCAA and SIAC regulations.
  • Logistics: Assist with the coordination and execution of arranging team and recruitment travel. Manage the ordering and inventory for program equipment and supplies in conjunction with the administration.
  • Safety & Wellness: Engage in regular consultation with athletic training and other department sports medicine personnel to maximize the safety and wellness of student-athletes during high-impact special teams drills.
  • Program Support: Actively participate and assist in promotional, marketing, public relations, and fundraising activities. Assist with facilities or game management and summer camps/clinics as directed by the Head Coach.
  • Community Engagement: Actively assist with community engagement activities for the program and promote a culture of sportsmanship both on and off the field.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
At least two years of athletics work experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's Degree preferred.
Direct experience coordinating special teams units or coaching specialists (Kickers/Punters/Snappers).
Collegiate coaching experience.
