Job description

Position Description
The Facilities Internship program supports the continued growth and development for student interns actively participating in career & technical education focused in skilled trades. The facilities intern supports skilled trades professionals in performing installation, repair, maintenance, and construction tasks across a variety of building systems and equipment. This role is designed to provide hands on experience, technical skill development, and exposure to workplace safety practices while assisting with day to day operations.
The internship program is 60 days with the potential for future apprenticeship or full-time roles.
The following trades are currently being hired for the Internship program:
  • HVAC
  • Electrical
  • Plumbing
  • Steam Systems (Welding/Fabrication)

Major/Essential Functions
  • Assist senior trades staff with routine maintenance, repairs, and installations in areas such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, or general facilities work.
  • Perform basic tasks including measuring, cutting, lifting, carrying materials, and preparing work areas.
  • Use hand tools and power tools under supervision, following all safety guidelines.
  • Help troubleshoot equipment issues and support preventive maintenance activities.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of tools, equipment, and workspaces.
  • Document work performed and report issues or hazards to supervisors.
  • Follow all safety protocols, PPE requirements, and workplace procedures.

Compensation is commensurate upon the qualifications of the individual selected and budgetary guidelines of the hiring department, as well as the institutional pay plan.
