Description
Hennepin County's Law, Safety and Justice IT (LSJ - IT) department is seeking an IT Analyst Interns. Members of this team work together to deliver technical support to customers in the Hennepin County Sherriff's Office (HCSO), and other LSJ partners. Under supervision, these positions will work with Operations Staff across Law, Safety and Justice to help answer helpdesk emails/calls, deliver, and manage hardware inventory, package and install software, and administer user access.

Location and hours:
These positions are hybrid and will be performed both on-site in downtown Minneapolis located at 625 4th Avenue South, MN 55415, and remote as job duties require. These internships are intended to start in August 2026 and last 6 months in duration with the potential to extend on a case-by-case basis. The interns will work 20-30 hours per week. Primary work hours are Monday through Friday, between 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., with flexibility. While these positions are designed as hybrid, based on current requirements hires must reside in or relocate to Minnesota or Wisconsin.

In these positions, you will:
  • Establish working relationships with IT staff and business partners to ensure quality partnerships to deliver IT solutions.
  • Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical partners on service requests and other enterprise solutions.
  • Install and support hardware and software for HCSO staff in various HCSO locations.
  • Learn standard methods for requirement elicitation, traceability, and requirement validation, measurement of system performance and analysis of performance measures.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and/or work with vendors to return various technologies and systems to normal operation.
  • Support adoption of new tools and processes as they are implemented.
  • Work with the Law, Safety, and Justice IT teams and the Hennepin County IT Department to install, configure, and support technical solutions for LSJ businesses.

Need to have:
  • Must be in one of the following:
    • Currently enrolled in the 2026-2027 Fall academic school year in an IT certificate, vocational, associate, or bachelor's or degree program in IT or related fields.
    • Recent graduate (within 6 months) in an IT certificate, vocational, associate, or bachelor's degree program in IT or related fields.
  • Access to a reliable internet connection and self-support hybrid office space.
Nice to have:
  • Experience:
    • Working with computer hardware and asset management.
    • Working in customer service or technical support.
    • With ticket/service management system (JIRA, DEVOPS, ServiceNow).
