Posted 10 days ago

Key responsibilities

  • Provide technical support and serve as an escalation resource for issues involving managed endpoints, identity, access, collaboration platforms, and corporate applications.

  • Assist with technology onboarding, offboarding, role changes, equipment deployment, account provisioning, access updates, and record collection.

  • Build, configure, deploy, maintain, and recover Windows and macOS endpoints using approved images, configuration standards, and management tools.

Job description

Description

Who We Are

Aptima is a technological leader in the national security industry. Our mission is to drive the future of national security by engineering scalable solutions that fuse technological innovation with human potential to transform how individuals and teams train, develop, and perform in mission-critical environments.

Our culture is rooted in our core values, which have evolved over time and our employees have embraced: Integrity, Ingenuity, Excellence, Respect, Engagement, Teamwork. At our core, Aptima researches, develops, and innovates within an area that engineering firms largely ignore, the human component. To impact the world in meaningful ways, you must bring those innovations to light, and that is precisely what we do.

How You Will Make An Impact

As an Associate Information Systems Administrator, you will be an entry-level member of Aptima's internal Information Systems Operations team. You will provide hands-on administration and technical support for managed endpoints, identity and access services, collaboration tools, and other corporate systems while learning Aptima's technical standards, security requirements, and operating procedures.

This position is primarily focused on Aptima's company-wide internal operations rather than assignment to a single customer or base environment. The role combines responsive employee support with routine platform administration and serves as a technical escalation resource for issues involving managed endpoints, identity, access, collaboration platforms, and corporate applications. You will complete assigned work within established procedures, document activity, communicate progress, and engage more experienced administrators when an issue exceeds your access, experience, or authority. As your proficiency and clearance readiness develop, you may also contribute to approved project or customer support assignments.

Your work will help keep Aptima's employees productive and its technology environment secure - from onboarding and endpoint readiness through troubleshooting, access changes, equipment lifecycle, and daily support. You will also help test, document, administer, support, and improve purpose-built internal tools, including Aptima's Microsoft 365-based ITIL/service-management solution and secure remote-support tooling.

You Can Expect To

  • Technical Support & Service Escalation: Provide technical support and serve as an escalation resource for issues involving managed endpoints, identity, access, collaboration platforms, and corporate applications. Gather relevant information, reproduce issues, perform structured troubleshooting, resolve issues within documented procedures, and engage the appropriate administrator or technical team when needed.
  • Employee Lifecycle Support: Assist with technology onboarding, offboarding, role changes, equipment deployment, account provisioning, access updates, and collection of required records and approvals.
  • Endpoint Administration: Build, configure, deploy, maintain, and recover Windows and macOS endpoints using approved images, configuration standards, endpoint-management tools, patching processes, and security controls.
  • Identity & Application Administration: Perform routine user and group administration across Microsoft 365 GCC High, Microsoft Entra ID, Okta, and approved enterprise applications under established role-based access and least-privilege procedures.
  • Security & Compliance Operations: Apply established security procedures, verify endpoint and account compliance, assist with access reviews and evidence collection, and coordinate with Cybersecurity and Compliance when findings require investigation or remediation.
  • Connectivity & Secure Access: Troubleshoot common wired, wireless, VPN, Zscaler, DNS, DHCP, and remote-access issues; document results and escalate network or infrastructure problems beyond the role's scope.
  • Data Protection & System Health: Assist with routine backup and recovery checks, monitor system or service health using provided tools, recognize exceptions, and follow established response and escalation procedures.
  • Asset & Equipment Lifecycle: Maintain accurate hardware, software, license, and assignment records; assist with inventory audits, purchasing intake, equipment preparation, shipping, returns, secure storage, and disposition.
  • Documentation & Knowledge Management: Create and update tickets, system records, knowledge articles, checklists, and standard operating procedures so work is reproducible, auditable, and understandable to others.
  • Internal Applications & Automation: Support testing, administration, documentation, and continuous improvement of purpose-built tools, including Aptima's Microsoft 365-based ITIL/service-management solution and secure remote-support platform. Reproduce issues, gather feedback, validate changes, maintain approved data or configuration, and assist with low-code, scripting, automation, or development tasks under guidance.
  • Training & Communication: Provide straightforward user guidance and approved training; communicate status, ask clarifying questions, confirm understanding, and keep employees and teammates informed.
  • Projects & Continuous Improvement: Support small IS initiatives, testing, deployments, data cleanup, and process improvements; identify recurring issues or opportunities and bring them forward with practical observations.
  • Office Technology & Cross-Team Support: Provide support for conference-room systems and other office technology as operational needs require, and collaborate with Infrastructure, Cloud Engineering, Cybersecurity, Compliance, and other teams on issues that cross system or organizational boundaries.

Skills:

  • Foundational knowledge of computer hardware, operating systems, common business applications, and basic systems administration concepts.
  • Foundational troubleshooting ability across managed Windows and macOS endpoints, identity and access, corporate applications, peripherals, and network connectivity, including the ability to document evidence and recognize when escalation is required.
  • Ability to follow technical procedures, security requirements, change controls, and escalation paths consistently.
  • Strong customer-service orientation with clear verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organization, attention to detail, and commitment to accurate documentation and task follow-through.
  • Ability to manage multiple assigned tasks, meet deadlines with appropriate guidance, surface blockers early, and accept constructive feedback.
  • A collaborative, curious, and adaptable approach to learning new tasks and technologies.

Requirements

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience: Foundational hands-on experience may come from employment, technical education, internships, military service, certifications, personal projects, or a comparable environment.
  • Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance.
  • Location & Travel: Ability to work regularly from Aptima's Fairborn office to support hands-on operational needs and travel occasionally to other Aptima or customer locations when required.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to handle, install, carry, or move computer equipment as needed, with reasonable accommodation available as required by law.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate or bachelor's degree in information technology, cybersecurity, computer science, or a related discipline; equivalent technical education, certifications, internships, military experience, or demonstrated hands-on experience will be considered.
  • Up to two years of experience in IT support, endpoint administration, systems administration, a technical internship, or a comparable hands-on environment.
  • Exposure to Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Intune, Jamf, Okta, Zscaler, endpoint security, backup platforms, or IT service-management tools.
  • Familiarity with identity and access management, multifactor authentication, least privilege, device compliance, and regulated or security-conscious environments.
  • CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, Microsoft Fundamentals, Apple Device Support, or a comparable entry-level certification.
  • Experience supporting Windows and macOS users in a hybrid workplace.
  • Interest or experience in internal application support, workflow automation, low-code development, scripting, or API-based integrations; exposure to SharePoint, Power Platform, Microsoft Graph, PowerShell, JavaScript/TypeScript, or similar tools is a plus.

All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, national origin, disability, protected veteran status or any other status protected by applicable national, federal, state or local law.
