Job Summary:
ERG is a research and consulting firm that provides support to federal, state, and commercial clients. The company is seeking a detail-oriented analyst to support national occupational safety and health programs by analyzing workplace injury and illness data to improve worker safety across the U.S.
Responsibilities:
• Review workplace injury, illness, and fatality records and apply standardized case‑classification codes using the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) Occupational Injury and Illness Classification System (OIICS).
• Exercise thoughtful, independent judgment to accurately classify complex or ambiguous cases while maintaining speed and consistency.
• Draft brief, clear incident narratives that summarize the circumstances of each case in plain, concise language.
• Manage multiple work queues and deadlines while maintaining high quality and attention to detail.
• Collaborate regularly with team members and senior analysts for guidance, quality checks, and knowledge sharing.
• Contribute to documentation, process improvements, and evolving analytical practices over time.
Qualifications:
Required:
• A bachelor’s degree in communications, health/environmental science, statistics, or related field
• Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail, with the ability to apply rules consistently
• Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely
• Outstanding time-management and organizational skills with the ability to work independently in a remote environment to accomplish assignments in a timely manner
• Experience or strong interest in data analysis, public health, occupational safety, epidemiology, or related fields
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and SharePoint)
• Willingness and ability to learn new software and technical skills as required
Preferred:
• Experience with structured classification or coding systems (e.g., OIICS, ICD, or similar)
• Experience or coursework in data analysis or data management
