This position is conducted in a remote setting, allowing for flexibility and the ability to engage with clients across various locations. While the role predominantly involves virtual engagements, Goldfinch Counseling is equipped with a climate-controlled office space where collaborative meetings and team activities can take place as needed. You will work closely with fellow healthcare providers and department members to ensure holistic support for our patients.

• Utilize evidence-based practices and assessments to evaluate and diagnose patients experiencing mental health challenges related to their cancer diagnosis.
• Create and implement individualized care plans that incorporate cultural diversity considerations, leveraging tools such as the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders.
• Monitor and assess patient progress, adjusting treatment strategies as necessary to enhance the efficacy of care.
• Document all treatment records, reports, and clinical information accurately and in a timely manner, aligned with regulatory standards.
• Collaborate with patients and their families to develop comprehensive treatment plans aimed at achieving desired outcomes and addressing specific needs.
• Coordinate resources and referrals, establishing communication between patients and various treatment providers to streamline care.
• Engage in educational activities by mentoring interns and volunteers, fostering an environment of continuous learning.
• Participate in peer reviews and contribute to clinical oversight as directed by your clinical supervisor.

The focus of this role is on individuals and families impacted by a cancer diagnosis. Understanding their unique emotional and psychological needs, you will provide tailored interventions that help mitigate the stress and anxiety associated with cancer treatment and survivorship. This engagement requires sensitivity to each patient’s circumstances and the ability to employ a strengths-based approach that values their resilience.

• A Master’s degree in Social Work from an accredited institution.
• A current state license as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in Virginia.

• Experience working in oncology or with cancer patients is highly desirable.
• Demonstrated ability to utilize evidence-based therapeutic techniques in practice.
• Prior experience in a multidisciplinary healthcare team setting is a plus.
