Job description

About Sora Schools

Sora Schools is a fully remote middle and high school reimagining what education can look like. Our students and faculty connect from across the country in a dynamic virtual environment, and our school community is held together by meaningful shared experiences - from everyday learning to landmark celebrations like prom and homecoming. We're looking for an organized, proactive Coordinator to help make those experiences happen.

Position Overview

The School Events Coordinator serves as an administrative support partner to Sora's Middle and High School Leadership teams, helping to plan, organize, and coordinate school events from the ground up. This is a collaborative and supportive role - you won't just be executing tasks in isolation; you'll work closely with school leaders to ensure every event is thoughtfully prepared and seamlessly executed.

From building presentation decks to managing calendar invites and logistics, you'll provide the behind-the-scenes operational support that allows leadership to focus on delivering meaningful experiences for students. This is an ideal role for someone who loves organization, thrives on anticipating what's needed, and wants hands-on experience in school operations, event coordination, and remote team collaboration.

Compensation & Commitment

This is a part-time contract, fully remote position. Hours and compensation are as follows:

  • Hours: Approximately 5-10 hours per week, with flexibility to accommodate your schedule

  • Contract Dates: Immediate start date with an end date of 6/19/2027

  • Wage: Hourly rate is $15-$17 per hour, depending on experience.

Schedule expectations may vary slightly around peak event periods, and will always be communicated in advance.

Location

This is a fully remote role.

Application

We are delighted that you are interested in this role! Due to the high volume of applications we receive, we are unfortunately unable to respond to every submission individually. Please know that we carefully review each application, and if your qualifications align with our needs, we will be in touch directly.

If you decide to apply, please do not contact Sora about your application. We will contact candidates directly regarding next steps if we would like to move forward.

Key Responsibilites

Event Planning & Coordination

  • Maintain a comprehensive, forward-looking events calendar for both the Middle and High School in coordination with leadership

  • Proactively identify upcoming events and flag them to the relevant leadership teams well in advance

  • Help ensure all events are on the radar of faculty and students with appropriate lead time for preparation

  • Track deadlines, deliverables, and action items for each event from planning through execution, keeping leadership informed throughout

Materials & Communications

  • Create polished slide decks for event briefings, planning sessions, and leadership review meetings

  • Draft and send calendar invites to relevant stakeholders for all scheduled events

  • Organize and maintain a centralized repository of event materials for easy team access

  • Prepare agendas and recap notes for events-related meetings

Student & Faculty Support

  • Support students and faculty in creating and managing Schoolspace events for major milestones such as prom and homecoming

  • Serve as a helpful point of contact for event logistics questions from students and staff, escalating to leadership as needed

  • Help coordinate volunteer or participant sign-ups and RSVPs as needed

Leadership Meetings

  • Attend regular check-ins with Middle and High School leadership teams to align on upcoming events and priorities

  • Present event timelines and slide decks for leadership review and feedback

  • Follow up on action items and decisions from leadership meetings promptly

Qualifications

  • Exceptional organizational skills and strong attention to detail

  • Clear written communication skills - comfortable writing for both student and faculty audiences

  • Proficiency with Google Workspace (Docs, Slides, Calendar, Sheets)

  • Comfortable working independently in a fully remote environment while staying closely connected to a team

  • Ability to plan, anticipate needs, and take initiative without being prompted

  • Reliable, responsive, and consistent in meeting deadlines

Preferred

  • Prior experience in event planning, student government, or a school or office administrative role

  • Familiarity with virtual school platforms or learning management systems

  • Experience creating presentations for professional or academic audiences

  • Genuine interest in education, school culture, or community building
