Internship Remote Enrolled Agent information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an internship remote enrolled agent, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Internship Remote Enrolled Agent, you need a strong grasp of tax law, attention to detail, and enrollment or progress toward the Enrolled Agent (EA) credential. Familiarity with tax preparation software, IRS e-filing systems, and cloud-based communication tools is typically required. Excellent organizational skills, proactive communication, and the ability to work independently are standout soft skills in a remote environment. These capabilities are crucial for ensuring accurate tax compliance, effective client service, and successful collaboration with supervisors and clients from a distance.

What is an internship remote enrolled agent?

An Internship Remote Enrolled Agent is a student or recent graduate gaining practical experience in tax preparation and representation, while working remotely under the supervision of a licensed Enrolled Agent. Enrolled Agents are federally-authorized tax practitioners empowered by the IRS to represent taxpayers. In this internship, individuals assist with tax filings, research, client communication, and other essential tasks, often while preparing for or pursuing Enrolled Agent certification. This remote role allows interns to develop professional skills and industry knowledge from any location, making it accessible and flexible.

How does a remote enrolled agent intern typically collaborate with supervisors and other team members?

As a remote Enrolled Agent intern, collaboration often occurs through virtual meetings, email, and secure document-sharing platforms. You can expect regular check-ins with supervisors to review your work, receive feedback, and discuss client cases. Interns are usually integrated into a team of tax professionals, allowing you to observe tax preparation processes, assist with research, and participate in client communications. Building strong communication skills and being proactive in seeking clarification or support are key to succeeding in a remote environment.

What is the difference between Internship Remote Enrolled Agent vs Enrolled Agent?

Work EnvironmentRemote, often part-time or internship settingCan work remotely or in-office, full-time

Internships often serve as a pathway to becoming an Enrolled Agent, who has met all certification requirements and can practice independently.

Job description

Stop Cold Calling. Start Closing.

Family Benefits Center is hiring motivated, licensed Health Insurance Agents for a fully remote sales opportunity.

We provide 100% of your leads and schedule your appointments for you. There is no cold calling, no door knocking, and no spending hours searching for prospects. Your focus is simple: speak with interested consumers, understand their healthcare needs, explain their available options, and help them complete their enrollment.

This is an excellent opportunity for licensed agents who are confident on the phone, comfortable conducting virtual appointments, and ready to earn based on their performance.

Bilingual English-Spanish agents are strongly encouraged to apply.

What Makes This Opportunity Different?

  • 100% of leads are provided.
  • Appointments are scheduled for you.
  • No outbound dialing or cold calling.
  • Fully remote position.
  • Flexible independent contractor schedule.
  • Training and ongoing sales support.
  • Access to health insurance products and enrollment platforms.
  • Opportunity to assist clients across multiple states as licensing allows.
  • Growing agency with opportunities for high-performing agents.

What You’ll Do

  • Conduct scheduled phone or virtual appointments with interested consumers.
  • Review each client’s healthcare needs, budget, and eligibility.
  • Explain available health insurance options clearly and professionally.
  • Help clients select appropriate coverage based on their individual circumstances.
  • Complete applications and enrollment documentation accurately.
  • Follow up with scheduled prospects when necessary.
  • Maintain accurate records of client conversations and enrollment activity.
  • Follow all carrier, state, federal, and company compliance requirements.
  • Participate in required training, product updates, and team meetings.

What We’re Looking For

  • An active Health Insurance Producer License is required.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Comfortable speaking with clients by phone or video.
  • Self-motivated and results-driven.
  • Able to manage a remote schedule and consistently attend scheduled appointments.
  • Comfortable working in a commission-only environment.
  • Reliable computer, high-speed internet connection, phone service, and quiet workspace.
  • Previous health insurance, insurance sales, telesales, or enrollment experience is preferred.
  • Bilingual English and Spanish is a strong plus.
  • Additional nonresident state licenses are a plus.

Compensation

This is a commission-only, 1099 independent contractor position. There is no hourly wage or guaranteed salary.

Your earnings are based on completed and approved health insurance enrollments under the applicable commission schedule. Income will vary depending on individual performance, appointment attendance, close rate, policy approval, product availability, and enrollment volume.

Because leads and appointments are provided, successful agents can concentrate their time on client consultations, enrollments, and follow-up rather than prospecting.

Independent contractors are responsible for their own taxes, licensing requirements, equipment, insurance, and other business-related expenses unless otherwise agreed to in writing.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a licensed agent who enjoys helping people, communicates confidently, follows up consistently, and knows how to turn a scheduled conversation into a positive client experience.

You may be a strong fit if you:

  • Want to sell without cold calling.
  • Prefer working from home.
  • Are comfortable with performance-based compensation.
  • Can build trust quickly over the phone.
  • Are organized, dependable, and coachable.
  • Want access to a consistent sales opportunity without purchasing your own leads.

Application Requirements

Please include the following with your application:

  • Current résumé.
  • State of residence.
  • Active health insurance license information.
  • Any additional states in which you are licensed.
  • Summary of your health insurance or sales experience.
  • Whether you are bilingual in English and Spanish.
  • Availability to begin onboarding.
