Job description

Job Summary:

Prospect Development Manager

Covenant Health

Remote within New England

Advance a Mission That Changes Lives

Covenant Health is seeking a strategic, analytical, and mission-driven Prospect Development Manager to help strengthen and expand philanthropy across our healthcare system. This is an exciting opportunity for a fundraising intelligence professional who thrives on turning complex data into meaningful strategy and actionable insights.

In this high-impact role, you will lead prospect research, pipeline development, portfolio management, and fundraising analytics initiatives that directly support philanthropic strategy and long-term growth across Covenant Health.

Important Note About This Role

This position is not a frontline fundraising or major gift officer role. The Prospect Development Manager serves as a strategic research, analytics, and portfolio management partner to fundraising staff and organizational leadership. The role does not carry direct donor solicitation, gift closure, or major gift portfolio responsibilities.

This role is best suited for professionals who enjoy research, analytics, data interpretation, prospect strategy, and fundraising intelligence work.

What You'll Do

Prospect Identification & Research Strategy

  • Lead the identification and evaluation of prospective donors aligned with Covenant Health's mission and fundraising priorities
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive prospect research and analytics strategy
  • Conduct in-depth research and analysis on current and prospective donors, including financial, philanthropic, and biographical assessments
  • Analyze wealth indicators, philanthropic interests, and relationship networks to support donor engagement strategy
  • Monitor local and national news and trends that may impact donor engagement opportunities
  • Prepare strategic donor briefings, research summaries, and profiles for fundraising staff and senior leadership
  • Continuously improve prospect research systems, tools, workflows, and reporting capabilities
  • Manage prospect research subscriptions and related resources

Data Analytics & Portfolio Management

  • Utilize donor databases, CRM systems, and wealth screening tools to evaluate, segment, and analyze donor data
  • Generate prospect lists, event briefings, donor profiles, and strategic fundraising intelligence materials
  • Monitor and report on pipeline health, portfolio movement, and fundraising performance metrics
  • Identify gaps in the fundraising pipeline and recommend strategies to strengthen prospect flow and qualification processes
  • Establish standards for prospect qualification, assignment, and portfolio movement
  • Lead regular portfolio review meetings and provide strategic recommendations to fundraising leadership
  • Serve as a strategic partner to frontline fundraising staff by providing prospect insights, analytics, and portfolio recommendations
  • Maintain data integrity through accurate CRM updates, ongoing validation, and adherence to data standards

Ethics, Compliance & Mission Support

  • Adhere to APRA Principles of Ethics and AFP Code of Ethical Standards
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and compliance with data privacy regulations
  • Support and promote the mission and values of Covenant Health and the Catholic Health Ministry
  • Serve as a strategic resource to the Foundation and broader organization

Ideal Background

Successful candidates will typically come from backgrounds such as:

  • Prospect Development
  • Prospect Research
  • Advancement Services
  • Fundraising Analytics
  • Development Operations
  • Portfolio and Pipeline Management
  • Donor Intelligence or Research Strategy

This role is highly analytical and strategy-oriented, with a primary focus on research, data analysis, portfolio strategy, and fundraising intelligence rather than direct donor fundraising responsibilities.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field required
  • Equivalent significant experience in prospect research or related fields may be considered
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in prospect development, prospect research, fundraising analytics, advancement services, or related functions
  • Experience managing pipeline health, portfolio performance metrics, and fundraising analytics initiatives
  • Experience supporting fundraising strategy through research, analytics, or donor intelligence preferred
  • Experience working in a complex, mission-driven organization preferred

Skills & Knowledge

  • Expertise with donor research platforms, wealth screening tools, and prospect identification strategies
  • Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving abilities
  • Experience with CRM systems, Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel), and online research tools
  • Familiarity with financial statements, wealth indicators, grant databases, and fundraising analytics
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and briefing preparation skills
  • Ability to synthesize complex information into concise, actionable recommendations
  • Strong collaboration, organization, and communication skills
