The Surface Radars and Sensors (SR&S) Center within Systems Engineering and Test Capabilities (SE&TC) is looking for a Senior Principal Radar Systems Engineer to lead architecture and requirements development activities. This position will be onsite in Huntsville, AL.

What You Will Do

  • Lead architecture and requirements development activities to define, characterize, develop, and document Missile Defense System (MDS) radar Modeling and Simulation (M&S) capabilities.

  • Develop architectural framework updates, system-of-systems functional and performance requirements, detailed algorithm descriptions, test scenario definitions, and verification approaches.

  • Conduct requirements analysis and benchmarking to validate algorithm designs, ensuring system-level performance aligns with operational requirements.

Qualification You Must Have

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 10 years of prior relevant experience.

  • Experience with radar systems or related systems engineering.

  • Experience with radar signal processing, signal processing theory, and/or signal modeling.

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Advanced degree in a STEM discipline.

  • Experience with radar system concepts, including detection, discrimination, tracking, and signal processing algorithms.

  • Expertise in system-level requirements development, documentation, and maintenance.

  • Experience designing system-level software architecture.

  • Proficiency in developing and coding system models, algorithms, test vectors, and evaluation tools for radar requirements and performance analysis.

  • Experience developing, documenting, and maintaining processes, methods, and tools.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop technical solutions to complex issues.

  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Matlab (including object-oriented programming), Python, C/C++, Java, and tools such as DOORS.

  • Experience working with Linux operating systems.

  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and tools such as JIRA and Confluence.

  • Strong analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills.

  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Excellent communication, technical writing, oral presentation, and interpersonal skills.

  • Demonstrated experience interfacing with customers and leading technical solutions for complex user requirements.

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a geographically distributed team.

  • Proven experience collaborating across disciplines and communicating effectively with all organizational levels and stakeholders.

The salary range for this role is 132,400 USD - 251,600 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.
