Responsibilities
  • Responsible for conducting, analyzing, and interpreting lab data and evaluating existing geotechnical conditions to determine soil classifications and mechanical properties
  • Responsible for preparing geotechnical report for bridges, roadways, buildings, signs, retaining walls, lighting, and drainage improvements
  • Providing geotechnical evaluations and recommendations for deep and shallow foundations, soil improvements, and site preparations
  • Responsible for inspecting and approving construction of subsurface structures such as: Auger Cast-in Pile, Drilled Shaft, Driven Piles, Helical Piles, Micro-Piles, etc.
  • Partially involved in geotechnical instrumentation installation monitoring and data readings such as: strain gauges, inclinometers, extensometers, mass concrete temperature sensors, surface and utility monitoring points, etc.
  • Responsible for coordinating all geotechnical subsurface explorations and investigations
  • Analyzes reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, tests, and aerial photographs on soil composition, terrain, hydrological characteristics, and other topographical and geologic data to plan and design project.
  • Markets geotechnical consulting services to clients; uses marketing skills and local contacts to find new clients and increase our share of the market
  • Prepares cost proposals and designs scope of work for prospective clients.
  • Calculates cost and determines feasibility of project based on analysis of collected data.
  • Attends meetings to present technical data to the client and other professionals.
  • Prepares or directs preparation and modification of reports, specifications, plans, testing schedules and designs for project.
  • Uses computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare engineering and design documents.
  • Perform construction materials testing duties including concrete and soil density testing.
  • Report Data in a complete, timely and understandable fashion.
  • Ensure that all test equipment is functioning properly, maintained as required by company and/or manufacturer's policy and that all calibrated equipment is within its calibration cycle
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications
  • Valid Driver's License with an acceptable driving record (in accordance with our Driver's License and Motor Vehicle Record Check Criteria)
  • Ability to pass a background check screening in accordance with Florida's Jessica Lunsford Act (or equivalent state classification)
  • Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in civil or related field from ABET accredited university.
  • 0-3 years of related experience in construction, geotechnical, or materials testing. Internships or co-ops in related fields are a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and reporting software.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • EIT (Engineer-in-Training) certification or in progress.
