RFA Engineering (rfamec.com) is seeking a highly organized and motivated Administrative / Recruiting Intern to support daily office operations, recruiting initiatives, event coordination, and general business functions. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in business administration, talent acquisition, human resources support, and company event planning within a fast-paced engineering environment. This position will be located at our Dubuque, IA engineering center.
The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, professional, technically savvy, and capable of managing a wide variety of responsibilities while interacting with internal teams, candidates, clients, and visitors.
Business Administration Intern
Responsibilities
Administrative & Office Support
  • Assist with day-to-day office scheduling, organization, and general facility support
  • Coordinate conference room reservations, company vehicle scheduling, and office calendar management
  • Monitor office supply inventory and reorder materials as needed
  • Support general office maintenance requirements and workplace readiness
  • Greet customers, visitors, and candidates in a professional manner
  • Provide miscellaneous administrative assistance to onsite team members

Recruiting Support
  • Review incoming resumes and assist with candidate screening activities
  • Conduct introductory phone screens for internship and entry-level candidates
  • Coordinate interview schedules and candidate communications
  • Assist with recruiting events, career fairs, and university outreach initiatives
  • Maintain recruiting databases, candidate records, and hiring documentation

Event Coordination & Company Activities
  • Support planning and execution of STEM outreach events, recruiting events, and company-sponsored activities
  • Organize calendar notices, meeting invitations, and event reminders
  • Assist with logistics, materials, registration, and onsite support for internal and external events
  • Provide support for trade shows and marketing-related activities as needed

HR & Business Operations Support
  • Assist with onboarding coordination and general HR administrative functions
  • Support data entry, spreadsheet cleanup, database organization, and office process efficiencies
  • Assist with sustainability data tracking and reporting initiatives
  • Provide general business support for special projects and miscellaneous tasks as assigned

Required Skills and Experience
  • Currently pursuing an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Communications, Marketing, or related field
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Professional interpersonal skills and customer-facing presence
  • Strong business acumen and willingness to support a variety of business functions
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint
  • Comfortable learning new software systems, databases, and office technologies
  • Detail-oriented with strong follow-through and problem-solving abilities
  • Self-motivated and dependable with the ability to work independently and within a team

Preferred Qualifications
