Job description

Position Summary
We are seeking a talented Structural Engineer with 10+ years' experience to join our firm. BGM Engineering works on low to mid-rise buildings,ย  and other structures of all sizes and construction types, from steel-framed warehouses to masonry retaining walls to multi story buildings. The ideal candidate should have multi-year experience dealing with the NY Department of Buildings. This position would be mostly remotely but the candidate needs to be local to NYC.
Responsibilities
The ideal candidate is capable of being both self-sufficient and working with a design team, with the ability to work on multiple projects concurrently. We maintain a high pace on our projects.
ย Candidate responsibilities include:
Principals are responsible for managing all aspects of a regional business unit, including preparing proposals, management of the staff, the project work performed by the group, the technical and professional mentorship of their staff, the allocation of manpower within the group, and the growth of the team

  • Assists in developing new markets in local region
  • Reviews/develops project proposals
  • Attends local marketing events
  • Supports Team on maintaining project schedule and budgets and acts as project executive to ensure clientsโ€™ expectations are being met
  • Responsible to ensure QA/QC processย 
  • ย Responsible for project budgets
  • Assists in A/R collections
  • Perform structural calculations for steel, reinforced concrete, masonry, and wood structures
  • Review drawings and calculations performed by junior staff
  • Develop detailed construction plans and details for buildings, bridges, and other structures using AutoCAD or Revit software
  • Create structural models using various structural design software
  • Perform field visits during construction to observe adherence to the construction documents
  • Review shop drawings and respond to RFIs during the construction phase

Qualifications
  • M.S. Civil Engineering from an accredited school
  • PE license required
  • Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office required
  • Proficiency in Bentley RAM software suite preferred
  • Excellent organization, oral, and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of local and national design codes, including the NY Building Code, AASHTO, ASCE 7, ACI 318, AISC 360, and NDS
  • 10+ years of relevant structural design work
