Evaluation Period: Annual performance evaluations if the student works the entire academic year. If the student works one semester, the performance evaluation will be completed after that semester
Position Overview
The Programming Intern will support the Program Team in delivering meaningful, joy-filled experiences to women and families living with breast cancer. This role is best suited for a mature, compassionate, and highly dependable student who is comfortable communicating with individuals navigating emotional and sensitive circumstances.
The ideal candidate brings strong interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence, attention to detail, and a willingness to step into both relational and administrative aspects of the organization's mission. This internship offers direct exposure to nonprofit program operations, recipient support, volunteer engagement, and mission delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Recipient & Program Support
- Assist the Program Team with the Recipient Information Form follow-up processes through phone calls and email communication with newly nominated recipients
- Help coordinate and execute gift deliveries for recipients - the heartbeat of our mission.
- Assist with building and preparing gifts for delivery
- Print gift letters and prepare mailed recipient materials
- Coordinate shipping and mailing logistics for gifts and program materials
- Drop off gift bags and materials to volunteers throughout the Greater Cincinnati area as needed
- Assist with booking travel accommodations, purchasing tickets, and coordinating recipient experiences
Administrative & Operations Support
- Support administrative projects connected to program and operations teams
- Assist with thank-you letters and donor acknowledgment tasks
- Input in-kind donations and maintain accurate records
- Complete L2L form submissions and related documentation support
- Help prepare and organize materials for Chapter Leaders
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled at Mt. St. Joseph University
- Federal Work Study eligibility required
- Interest in nonprofit work, healthcare support services, communications, social work, hospitality, or community engagement
- Mature, empathetic, and professional communicator
- Comfortable navigating emotional conversations and sensitive situations with care
- Strong interpersonal and soft skills
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism
- Dependable and able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Comfortable making phone calls and interacting directly with recipients, volunteers, and supporters
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general computer skills required
Internship Details
- 10-15 hours/week. Flexible schedule based on class schedule and availability
- Hybrid schedule allows for office and work from home opportunities
- Some local travel within the Greater Cincinnati area may be required
- Some occasional evening or event support opportunities may arise
